It was for the multiple lateral play - get all your athletes on the field (fewer offensive lineman)

Think Dallas needs a new QB rather than a new coach. McCarthy isn't great by any means but with a better quarterback he can win a Super Bowl. Happened before with Rodgers.

I’m willing to give Dallas credit for trying something unconventional. I actually liked the idea of having linemen on the outside - obviously an attempt to help them get downfield to block. And I think the idea was for Elliot to be the first lateral - or at least trail to be available for a lateral. But he got blown up after the snap - which made no difference, since the initial receiver also got blown up immediately.

As for the Cowboys as a whole I do think they need a better QB to get over the hump. If they're not careful they're going to end up like my Steelers for most of the 2010's - Very talented teams that ultimately accomplish nothing. Can't kick the can down the road forever on a team like this.
You win two Super Bowls like Rothy and the Steelers did and that buys you a lot of can kicking time....
Yeah. Why I mentioned the 2010s. Super Bowl wins were in the 2005 and 2008 seasons. 2010s the Steelers pissed a lot of talent away. Don't get me wrong I'm grateful for the two Super Bowl wins. But easily could have been a couple more if not for playoff bed shittings in the 2010s, lol.
A fellow Steelers fan here. I'll dispute the "accomplishing nothing" comment. No losing seasons, four division titles and at least one controversial call away from another Super Bowl. I'm still not over this one. The NFL and their stupid "catch" definitions over the years. Keep in mind that this was a call reversal.
Definitely a frustrating play. Still makes me a bit sad. Especially against New England.
I know a lot of teams would kill for the divisional titles. Maybe we're spoiled but I can't get too excited when they didn't win a Super Bowl with all that talent. Of course on the other hand if the Pirates won a divisional title I'd be dancing in the streets LOL. Just depends on expectations I guess.
