I've lived out of state for about 10 years. Today an old guy saw my husker license plate, walked up to me and started talking about how much he loved watching us play back in the day. This has happened to me a number of times.

It's pretty sweet that we seem to have a good enough reputation and history that a lot of older fans have good memories of our dominance. I'm sure it's a function of there being so few games nationally broadcast during our 70's, 80's, and 90's runs, and the fact that I'm on the east coast means that there aren't as many people with conflicting college loyalties.

At the same time it's always kind of a bummer because the conversation invariably turns to "yeah you've been down quite a bit as of late."

I'm really looking forward to being relevant again, but in the meantime I'm always glad to meet fellow travelers.
