DPE out 6-8 weeks

I see October 10th is home against Wisky then you guys are at Minny the next week...

Would sure be nice if he's back by then. That's a huge two game stretch and more important than the Miami game.

You should still be able to handle BYU.

Stinks but hopefully he is back and in decent forth for thew big games late in the year. Fingers crossed.

I hope SM is ready to shine.

It is hard to stay in shape with a foot injury. He may be able to play in 6-8 weeks. But he may not be in football shape for another few weeks.

This. I had a reasonably manageable ankle avulsion fracture about 5 weeks ago and it's a slow heal process and gym stuff is limited.

We will miss DEP but that's football. We have the athletes to put a bandaid on this wound until he can come back.

This season is going to come down to Wisco and Sparty. If we want to compete for a big ten title we will need him back and healthy by then. I'm not ready to jump off a bridge yet.

I agree with the comment above that we should redshirt him this year. By the time he comes back in true game shape the season will be three fourths over. But this really stinks. This is a guy that we have nobody on our roster to replace him with in the return game. The dude is another Johnny Rodgers in that regard and you don't just plug someone else in there. This hurts our special teams in a big way. Take him out of last year's Iowa game and we lose. And I suspect there might be one or two games like that this year. And given all the injuries at wide receiver I hope our tight ends and running backs are ready to catch some footballs.

I think we'll be alright in the passing game without DPE for 6-8 weeks, gives guys like Moore, Turner, and Morgan a chance to step up. But obviously hurts special teams and the PR game. Who else has been working at PR? I'd like to see Stevenson back there if he is ready to shine, otherwise I see Moore or sure hands Westy back there for now.

Maybe move adam taylor to WR

Sucky, sucky, sucky. At a position we were already thin too. I think a lot of us were MOST excited about seeing what DPE could do in this offense.

It would be close to a miracle if Turner could be 80% of the threat DPE is;; and Westy a great receiver, forget returns. With the new O and play designs, DPE was essentially going to get the equivalent of 10-12 punt return tries a Game. RRT gets this. UGH

Morgan now in the definite mix at WR. Jamal Turner, you're up on returning. Done.

My opinion, i say red shirt him and get him ready for next year. Hate to see half or over the season waisted to injury.

He's basically done for 2/3 - 3/4 of the season. Zero reason to waste an entire year of eligibility just to play a couple of games. Then you have the likelihood of re-injury or it just becoming a "nagging foot problem" by doing to much on it before it's 100%.

It depends on if Nebraska is in the hunt for a CCG. If they are, play him. What's the chances he stays for a 5th year instead of going pro?

For you guys who say redshirt him the litmus test according to the coaches is: can he help us win now?

I say redshirt him unless we are having a really great season and are in the mix for a conference title. If the coaches think he can help us win down the stretch in a run for the title then it is probably worth it to play him. But if we have already lost to BYU, Miami, Wisconsin, MSU, Minnesota, then why waste the year? Of course, it is also desirable to have a winning season and make it to a decent bowl game. Hard call I guess. A lot depends on how fast the injury heals. Foot injuries are really slow to heal. So if they say 6-8 weeks I would guess it will be closer to the 8 weeks. Then he has to get in game shape

Sounds like he could be back for Wisconsin.... MSU game isn't for another 11 weeks?

The positive on the Pierson-El injury is you would think there's a good chance he should be back by the Wisconsin game. #Huskers

FUUUUUUUUUUUUDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Only I didn't say fudge........

We will see. I have had a fracture in my foot due to a sport's injury. It took longer than what the doctors said to heal. Of course... I ain't no elite athlete either. :)

That is too optimistic IMO. I know nothing about the injury or the recovery time. But foot injuries take awhile to heal and you get out of shape because of them. I hope they don't rush him back.

Hopefully he will be. I know of several players over the years out here [soCAL] that never came back in the predicted timeframe. It always seemed to take longer.
