Some people on here are taking this Calvin decision way too seriously. We just need to step back, take a breath, and move on.

Look, I understand everyone's frustration. We started the recruiting season really hot and then got tons of high caliber visitors to campus. There were articles in the national media about Calibraska and how Riley was killing it this year in recruiting California. Then came the winning streak and more good vibes. So there was a ton of optimism in the air and even some serious talk of us landing a top 15 recruiting class. That then led some on here to claim that anything less than a top 15 class was "unacceptable!".

And now things have not quite worked out. Our season cooled off and ended with a thud. Our recruiting cooled off too. So people are feeling frustrated and pissed and want someone to blame.

There is still over a month to go in recruiting. It was unrealistic to expect a top 15 class anyway. It always was.

I have said it before and will again: recruiting a solid group of 3 star athletes, peppered with a few four star guys, is just fine. If those kids come here and are willing to bust their asses for Nebraska and give it their all I am confident these coaches can get us to take the next step up. Will the next step be into the top five? No. But if we can just start playing tough and competitive football in every game, then the recruiting will get better and better over time.

My goodness.... fire Riley? That would be a monumental mistake.

THE biggest problem in NU football right now is NOT our talent deficit. We do lack talent compared to the elite teams. But the biggest problem we face is the almost total loss of our "football culture". I think most people on here know what I mean by that without me having to spell it out in detail... all that a football culture entails. And I think Riley can rebuild that culture. But unlike a simple infusion of new talent with splashy recruits, a new and renewed football culture can take five or six years to build. That is why firing Riley now would be a mistake. And sometimes it is easier to rebuild that kind of football culture with blue collar 3 star kids who have great attitudes, than a bunch of self-centered, me first twits, sitting at a table with 27 hats
And it is EXACTLY why you fired a perennial 9 win coach whose football culture was a toxic brew
