LJ was a highly rated 4 star S two years ago, offered by nearly every big program in the country, and now is struggling at CB (to put it mildly). Kalu was at a minimum a decent/plus CB, and we switch him to S for his final year? Lee and Anderson were also 4 star DBs coming out of high school.

We always talk about recruiting and the need to get 4/5 star players. Well, we have several of them on the team who seem to be under-performing. At some point, the issue has to be scheme/coaching or we get all the 4 star DBs who don't pan out. Which is it?

Sounds like we dont have to worry about where kalu will play

I thought Kalu did a good job at corner last year. I think he would have made strides at cornerback as he has at safety.

As I understand it, Kalu was a safety throughout high school and never played CB until our coaches changed his position. Safety is a more natural position for him.
I think Jackson could play either but prefers corner. Given our dearth of corners I don't see it as an issue for him to be there. He's really young yet and does make plays sometimes.

This defense is going to be like any other defense that has switched schemes. It will take them a good 1/2 to 2/3 of the season for them to feel comfortable with the new scheme. They won't play at full speed until then. But it will start working. Watch it unfold, because it will happen.

I've always thought Lamar should have been a Safety. Just don't think he has the burst of speed and hips to stay with top WRs. If we do see Bookie and hopefully Tutt next year wouldn't mind if they moved him back to S. Although we'll have a good one returning off injury.

Jackson shouldn't be a corner. The problem is Kalu isn't a natural cb either. Kalu did good at switching to cb but it isn't his calling imo.

Stewart completely screwed NU at CB recruiting...he, himself, only landed Bootle that fell in love with Nebraska at a satellite camp. Lee and Anderson were from Warren and LJax was primarily KDub...he was nowhere with anyone last year and we got Donte too late to make a difference.

Really hope Donte can Donte on NSD.

Yes. This defense is in transition. Next season they will be much better.
