This was a paycheck game for them where they are supposed to come into the big blue blood's home stadium, get trounced, get a fat pay out and go on about their season. They did not live up to their end of the deal!
Do we still have to pay NIU since they didn't follow the script?

Seriously, If you are going to schedule a directional school for a paycheck game before conference play begins...why would our AD schedule a "lesser" program with a very respectable record vs the Big Ten?Actually, they deserve more. And ice cream with extra sprinkles.
I like getting the tougher programs in to play before the conference schedule. It should make you a better team and help in recruiting. Most competitors want to play against the better players no matter the level.
I don't mind these teams at all, at least you get a measure of what kind of team Nebraska is early on. So far they are poor in almost all areas, so it's something that a good staff should be able to look at and start making corrections to give them a chance to win. If these things are not corrected, I see an empty chair where once there was a football coach, to paraphrase the Ghost of Christmas future.
