Diamondbacks Sign Greinke

I don't see how this is good for either guy, setting aside the money. Yes, I said that. Greinke was going to get more than anyone could ever need in 5 lifetimes...why in the heck didn't he go to a better team? Am I missing something, is Arizona close to winning something?

Just doesn't sound right to me. Maybe I am biased because of all the big money pitchers who leaver for even bigger money and then how often can you say it was a great move after a few years go by? Just seems like so many of these are a bust.

I hear what you are thinking but top line pitching is top line pitching. Dbacks had one of the best O's in NL and decent pitching. Getting an ace helps extend the staff. Not saying they win WS next yr but they will but a strong contender in NL West depending on what happens. Shocked the Giants didn't play harder

I will actually be interested in how this works out. Are you a 'Zona fan by chance? I need to know if I should be flipping you crap if this doesn't work out...:)

Not a zona fan but pretty decent baseball guy. Zach will be fine, how the team does who knows but this will not hurt them by any stretch. My big concern is a guy changing leagues, usually takes a couple yrs. most pitchers want to be in NL because you face 8 vs 9 hitters, that I am shocked Price didn't go to SF or Cubs. Lackey to Cubs is huge and prob sets up Cubs with top 3 in NL at this point. Cubs need BP help and they can be favorites. Cubs and Mets will have top staffs as of today in NL

Stop the presses!! Free agent baseball player signs with team that offers the most money!!

Whatever all players do. If you can get it get it. So let's say you could earn 5.00 an hour more for same job do you do it? People who bag on players drive me bonkers

Yet, every offseason, fans think their favorite player(s) are going to give some kind of home team discount. Oh yeah, and let's go ahead and wait until the free agent period plays itself out before crowning the Cubs.

32 mil for 2 years surprised me. Dude is 37. I'm a Cards fan and glad the birds didn't offer him that. Even after a great last season.

I thought, and still do, that at a certain financial point you might want to play for a title contender, especially if said player hasn't already won a ring, but I also didn't know 'Zona was a very good team that might be a contender with this addition. Plano did a great job explaining it. However, I will always flip a player crap that goes for nothing but the money when they've never won a ring or title. I get why he did it, and of course it was his right, but it's my right to say "WTF"? at the same time. Either way, it isn't keeping me up.

I guess Greinke isnt all about winning anymore.

If Archie Bradley can finally make and impact, ZG & AB would make a nice 1-2 punch. As you stated, the hitting is there. Pollock is the best player no one ever seems to talk about and obviously, Goldschmidt is the best player in the NL (and in baseball outside of Trout). They probably need another pitcher, as I never loved Corbin as a #1 but as a #3, he'd be ok as a lefty.

Really, I think this hurts the dodgers the most. Who will be their #2 since their #1b left? Ryu is always hurt.

I am a Cubs fan and screw that guy
You wont be saying this in the postseason. He is lights out in the postseason and what the Cubs need if they want to overtake the Mets. Jason Hammel is not the answer at #3

AZ should contend for the division. The staff will need to overachieve to consider them a title contender. That said, Greinke went there because of the cash, and im cool with that.

Here is a quote from Greinke in 2013. Once again, Im fine with it. Its a breathe of fresh air for somebody to say money is the #1 factor.

“It's obviously the No. 1 thing,'' Greinke said. “I could play for the worst team if they paid the most … If the last place team offers $200 million and the first-place team offers $10, I'm going to go for the $200-million no matter what team it was.''

Another big addition in Miller. D-Backs are getting after it.
