First off, I want to say I am incredibly encouraged by everything I have heard about Diaco and continue to hear great things. - loved his press conference I think relationship wise he is going to be a huge upgrade as well as X and O wise.
Sorry to bring this up so early in Diaco tenure here but the devils advocate in me never seems to cease.
My question for those more in the know in terms of detailed coaching and players / former players and coaches who played at high school and or collegiate or higher level....
....help convince me that his great numbers and stats at Notre Dame weren't largely due to great talent they typically get and while we know Connecticut probably doesn't have great talent there how many prolific offenses did they face even if they're playing teams of similar talent because typically that whole area tends to be very run oriented conservative physical play tough defense which means just an avg to good DC would show good stats.
My personal opinion is, and I have great confidence in fact that he will be better than say Bo P was, however, many of us on this board thought and nation I thought believed Bo was a top D mind. I had to bring up to a lot of people early on and they didn't listen until late that almost all of those great D stats Bo had were done with incredibly top talented players and on teams like LSU Oklahoma Nebraskas 2003 and 2009 through 11. With anything short of one super player on the D line like a Suh and if he didn't have an all star dominant player at each of the three levels DL LB and DB he looked bad and looked lost
