I am tired of reading all the comments about how bad they played. Did they look good NO, but they won. Every thread over the off season was just win games, that's the most important thing. They won the football game. Like Diaco said, their goal is to have one less point then the other team at the end of regulation. I don't give a crap if we give up 40 points every game this year if we manage to score 41 points every game. Winning is everything, not having a top ranked defense. Yes I understand teams that win almost always have great defenses, but at the end of the day if we score more points than the other team, the offense and defense did their jobs. Second I am tired of hearing about getting shut outs. That is almost unrealistic this day in age with how many athletes each team has and the types of offenses everyone is running. We don't ask pitchers to throw shutouts. A quality game is 6 innings giving up 3 or less runs. They are asked to minimize the damage and keep their team in the game so they have a chance to win. So why don't we do the same thing with our defense. Minimize the damage and keep the team in it so we have a change at winning every game. If you wanna see shutouts watch soccer and hockey. So lets just be good fans, cheer hard and help them anyway we can to win football games. Stay behind the players and coaches and support them. I know they all want to succeed, so help them to succeed.

I am usually silent after these types of games, but this "sky is falling" mentality gets really irritating.

How about talking how if the OFFENSE is able to convert a 3rd and 4 with 4:00 minutes to go then the game is iced away?

As long as we have at least one more point than the opposing team than it goes in the win column. Stats don't win football games.

I honestly wonder what it's like to be a fan so full of vitriol and negativity after the first game of the season? I mean, is there any part of watching a Nebraska football game that can be enjoyable? What if we play better and win this Saturday? Can you enjoy that? What if we lose 21-14? Your head explodes?

I was able to fool my family that we were playing Arkansas, an SEC school with a great tradition. I just told them that their new uniforms were black and restyled to attract HS talent. So everyone felt good that we were winning, even though that many points at home is bad against any team. Then someone remarked Who The F#&^% is Arkansas State? The mist cleared and we realized that Nebraska was pathetic....and we also realized that Arkansas state could have easily scored 50 points considering their turnovers and drops. Wins against Sun Belt teams DO NOT MATTER. It is pathetic that we were even playing them, especially with a 16 team conference. We should have one solid non-con game, and 11 games against conference. This team just had their confidence shattered and are going into a tough environment against a good to great offensive program. I don't blame any players or coaches, but it is sickeningly that so much money goes into such mediocrity.

Don't get carried away. Oregon was bad last year and they have a new coach. They haven't recruited better than us. Let's not give them too much credit based on one win against a nobody.

Good questions here. I cant say for everyone. But for me there were positives and negatives. I was glad to see a strong running attack and a passing game that looks to be a real threat. The O line wasnt perfect but played well. The d line held their ground and even got pressure a few times 3 on 5. Lb's and db's made some tackles in space and broke up a few passes. I was not happy with the offense being unable to put the game away. There were to many penaltys. Qb took to many shots. And the d spent nearly the whole game worried about low percentage throws over the top while they were getting smoked underneath. I will always support this program in victory and defeat. But I will never be satisfied with mediocrity.
