Banker: "If they're nervous, I would be real surprised, because they are just go-getters, you know what I mean?"
MRI: predicts they'll be on the freshman all-conference team this year. Rose-Ivey is particularly impressed with their work ethic, noting how the twins balanced winter conditioning while also throwing for the Husker track and field team. "That's phenomenal," Rose-Ivey said. "Especially for those young guys to be able to focus and do what they did while they were doing that in the weight room, in the classroom, upstairs in the film room, and then getting better every day down there with (Coach John) Parrella? That's all I need to see."

A RS frosh Dtackle is just that, a RS frosh. But these guys may be about as good of a RS frosh as you'll see.

Agree, both are going to be very good. But...watch what DJ Foster did to them and Newell, more often than not, during the Spring Game. DJ is going to be All B1G by the end of his time at NU.

Like Husk10 said, I have a lot of hope for them, but lets pump the breaks a little bit. They are RS Freshman and are often going to find themselves in match-up disadvantages because some guard is going to be bigger and stronger or be a vet with better technique. Athleticism will only get them so far. And compile that with the grind of a full season, which they've yet to experience - yeah, I'm a little worried.

I don't think they are going to run in to many O-linemen more athletic or stronger than they are. A lack of experience is concerning but physically we've got some kids ready to go.

I agree with you about athleticism, and you could be right about strength too. I recall that one of them performed really well in the weight lifting competitions. We'll know one way or the other come next fall.

I've been a little doom and gloom after the McMullen departure, but I looked at our depth after I made that post and I must say, I like what we have coming back. I just liked it a lot more when I thought McMullen was part of the rotation.

If you call being the best lifter on the team doing really well; then you are spot on - of course he even said; that he won because his twin was sick. Ahem. But I share it with you; I was thrown by losing such an outstanding young man - but he surely feels the team is in good shape or he wouldn't leave ( a high character guy ). He is dealing with a lot of choices for his future and obviously feels the time is now - at a point where you know there is no NFL and you could be a role player ( that a younger can do ); you talk with coach and provide for the future and family - he worked inside from the DE position, thats taking a beating for us; I'm appreciative , with grad school, his head is on straight IMO.

Sorry to break this to ya CC but there will be no pumping of the breaks when it comes to the DL. That luxury walked away from their teammates and brothers! The time is now for all the young guns to grow up!

As long as folk aren't throwing them under the bus midway through BIG play if/when we can't stop the run.

You mean like how a whole upperclassmen unit literally threw their younger teammates under the bus???

These young men are heroes in my book. The only ones who will be trashing them are the likes of you.

OK, I will bite. What did they do to deserve "hero" status already? Unless they did something I am not totally aware of, which is very possible, then this is another case of hyping beyond reason. I have great respect for the kids, they have certainly overcome a lot and worked very hard and I cannot wait to watch them play. I think the lessons they will learn this year will be difficult and frustrating in between the sensational plays. The O-line neutralized the front four pretty well and in many cases pushed them clean off the LOS too many times. If that qualifies them as heroes then I guess you have your men.

LMAO. Don't know where that came from. The harshest criticism I've offered of a player in recent memory was TA after he threw a number of unnecessary interceptions in the Iowa game. I said I was "divorcing" him as the quarterback of the team - that's about as critical as I get.

In fact, I frequently defend the players from keyboard tough guys who think they know it all. And that is precisely what I was doing above, asking us to pump the breaks so people don't go full on rage mode when things don't go the way they want because we've placed all of our eggs in the basket of two RS Freshmen.

Exactly, I wasn't even going to go there...

Oh, let's start of by...
The young men honoring their commitment to the University of Nebraska.

It's like you two live in a Botard vacuum and can't wait for Riley and this team to fail.

Don't worry, we won't need to stop the run. When we're up by 50, the other team won't be running it.

if the above is truly the case then more power to the young man. If this is about Mr McMullen positioning himself for the future with regards to getting into a good grad school then I commend the man. I'm sure it takes a lot of time and effort to put together a competitive application for the Wharton School of Business. I remain skeptical that this is more about busting his butt in order to graduate on time and then using the guise of grad school to transfer to the school of his choice. I look forward to following Mr McMullen's career in academia.

I remember thread after thread of people defending Kaz on here when Iowa fan came over to warn us what a POS he was - not surprising, however, that such a person would appeal to Pelini when building his staff.

Please. Couldn't stand the guy and wanted him gone since OSU 2012. Huge fan of Riley and absolutely want it to work out. You make two asinine comments and instead of defending them you are the one to go full Botard. Yeah, he's also a crutch for those without shame and who don't think before they type.

I doubt you were being literal, but I do have high hopes for the offense as well. The thing that concerns me is a solid defense and a ball control offense can neutralize even the best offenses pretty quickly. So I'm a bit more worried than your post lets on.

I love when people get into an argument here 85% of the time it's a race to see who can drop a "botard" first.
It's kind of like Ron White's bit about high school debate. He talks about how he finally got to the point where he said, "Oh yeah, well f### you." He goes on, "I thought I had won. They were speeeeeechless."

I think you have CC all wrong. He's always been a critical thinker. Sometimes that means he doesn't agree with everything you say. It would be best not to circle the wagons every time someone says anything remotely critical about the staff and/or players. You use Botard way to casually, IMO. Of course, that's not to say that there aren't Bo-ners out there that need to be called out. CC is just not one of them.

Brilliant response. It shows a clear degree of logic - naming people as heroes without even understanding the definition - which in your case would make many of the student athletes at Nebraska and across the country heroes if they kept their commitment. I, in fact, have no idea what a "Botard" is but feel free to call me that if it makes you feel better about yourself and you can not find anything else to say in rebuttal. If you are implying I am a Bo fan, you are obviously mistaken, not the first time but a nice try to deflect the obvious lack of understanding. So, please try to stay on point and allow those of us who still have some resemblance to objectivity to voice that without being called a name. Perhaps form a logical argument, now there is an option. Have a good day sir.

I propose a new tradition before Fall Camp. We announce a date and specific time for a moment of silence and cross our fingers and wish no Husker injuries. We could have a complete disaster depending on which way the injury wind blows.

It's a matter of some OLinemen being in a quality college S&C program for potentially 4+ years vs 1 year for the twins. They will come across OLinemen next year that will be stronger than they are (it appears they came across sophomore OLinemen last Saturday that are stronger than they are).

Fortunately we will have a much better LB Corp to pick up some of the slack, and more comfort in the system by everyone in general, but we will give up more yards on the ground in '16 than '15. You can almost count on it.

Can we please start a thread with a list of the players that are heroes? I would very much like to know which ones to call Nebraska Cornheroes when the season starts.
