Drove out to Lee's Summit North tonight to catch Davis' game against Park Hill. Let me first say I'm not sure why he transferred, because there's no way his old HS team could be worse than his new HS team. Game got suspended at half due to lightning but here are my first half takes.

Davis looked the part, 6'2 180 seems about spot on. Best athlete on either team, as he showed when he returned a kickoff 98 yards for a score. He was also playing corner much of the game. His team needs him to play every snap, and at half they were down 24-6 and he was visibly frustrated. Besides the KR TD, he probably had 60 yards receiving all of which were screens or short dump offs, due to the fact his QB is trash and couldn't get the ball to him. Very impressed with his speed and athleticism, but he appears to take plays off when he knows he isn't getting the ball and spent most of the first quarter that he wasn't on the field off by himself on the bench away from his team. Now I can't totally knock him for this, since he played every snap and may have been tired, and also he literally just transferred to the school so he may not know a ton of the guys yet.

What I really wanted to post about was the RB for the opposing team, Park Hill. 2018 kid named Damaney (DJ) Johnson. Played mostly RB and ran hard and was really quick. Though Park Hill was clearly the better team and he had some good sized holes, he ran bigger than the 6'0 180 he's listed at. On one such run he plowed right up the middle dragging a couple tacklers behind him for a 30 yard gain. Guy to keep an eye on.

In conclusion, Davis has great size and speed, and is extremely dangerous with the ball in his hands. And I'd like to see what he can do surrounded by some decent players.
