Dantonio is an S. Carolina grad

coach D ain't going nowhere. South Carolina, Texas, OSU...every year his name is mentioned for openings. Just heard someone mention him for the USC position today. Not going to happen. MSU is his final stop. Besides right now he's serious challenges in front of him like game planning to beat UM in A2.

If I'm Dantonio and get an offer to Southern Cal, I'm moving to Cali. Oregons run looks like it could be over. The best competition you have is Utah. USC looks like a better job than normal, and it usually looks amazing.

South Carolina might be a different story. But with the resurgence of Michigan, I wouldn't be surprised. Only one can thrive for an extended period of time in that state.

Why would any coach leave Michigan State to coach at a blueblood in college football? I dunno ... let's ask Nick Saban.

D would work at USC. But given the choice between South Carolina and MSU, no way he makes that move. USC, Texas, Miami, are all probably going to be open by the end of the season. It will be the Chip Kelly sweepstakes.

I could see him leaving for that last bit money grab. I mean that in a positive way too...a new 5 year deal (guaranteed) for maybe 4-5 million a year? I mean that would be a nice lotto ticket.

It will be interesting to see what happens with the other jobs that open BECAUSE of these jobs.

I've been told coaches don't need money (just having fun). Somebody can correct me, but Saban left MSU when a 7-win season was cause for celebration. Dantonio has said on multiple occasions that MSU is HIS destination job. I suppose he could leave, it's within the realm of possibility, it just doesn't look likely to me.

Yeah once that dumbsh%& was mentioned I stopped reading. No offense on the link LRob. Chippy is just an idiot/
No problem LF. It was widely reported here (i'm in Michigan) that Texas had interest...but Dantonio shot it down pretty quick and said MSU is his destination job. I would've attached other links if I had known of the writer's rep.

Saban said he left because he was promised a contract extension...but then was slow played and told it would be discussed after the season. Saban's last year (1999) MSU was 10-2 including wins over UM, OSU, PSU, ND and Florida. Plaxico Burress and Julian Peterson were seniors on that team. He also alluded that it was tough to compete with UM...we beat them H2H yet they were selected to a better bowl game...similar to 2011 went UM went to a BCS bowl over MSU.

Saban's tenure at MSU
1995 --> 6 wins
1996 --> 6 wins
1997 --> 7 wins
1998 --> 6 wins
1999 --> 10 wins (counting the bowl, which Saban was gone by the bowl)

I pretty sure Miami or USC would not like the offense that Chip Kelly brings to the table, but you never know, look at the different styles of offense we have played over the last 15 years or so.

Okay thought you were saying the team won 7 games when he left...but after re-reading your post I get your point.
