great hire, i would've been much happier with that back in 2022.
I like Mullen as a coach. I just don't know that he would have been anymore successful than Rhule over the long haul. His Florida teams regressed each year, Mississippi St teams were mostly average and he was below .500 in the league and he only had 1 winning conference season. The SEC west was tough but his teams played a not so good Kentucky team every year in crossover and in at least 5 of his seasons there he played the 2 worst SEC east teams in crossover games or his record would have been further below .500.

UNLV has been fun to watch the last couple of years, hope Mullen can keep it rolling!
comparing their records at different schools is pointless. Mullen is a fine coach, but his Florida team went from 10-3 in year 1 to 5-6 in year 4 and he was fired. His Miss St teams were below .500 in the league and were quite frankly inconsistent fluctuating from 5 wins to 10 ten wins and back to 6 wins. With those results in Lincoln he could have been fired as Pelini was, but Pelini had a better record and more consistency.

Rhule had an overall losing record against Big 12 opponents. He currently has an overall losing record against B1G opponents.
Take Rhule's best stretch as a head coach from 2015-2019 and it's still worse than Mullen's stop at either Miss St or Florida.
Yeah I highly doubt Pelini could HC his way to 3 straight SEC Championships.
He produced 3 top 15 teams at Florida. He at one point had Miss St. ranked as the #1 team in the country. When has Rhule ever come close to producing these results?
While I think it is a good hire, the mood amongst many in Vegas was to elevate Brennan Marion so that the Go-Go would continue in Vegas. Looks like this news has him leaving.

Mullen coached in 1 SEC championship game as a HC and lost that game. Who coached his way to 3 straight SEC titles?
Rhule's has never had a season where his win total was less than the previous season.

However, my point remains, there is nothing in Mullen's history that says he would do any better at Nebraska than Rhule has done nor bring Nebraska back from the dead.

He’s not that good of a coach. I remember how lovestruck some you clowns were with him.
And Mike Riley had Nebraska ranked as high #6. He was an awesome coach too, right?
It is especially when one coach took over a program with zero football success (Temple) and also took on a program with only 45 scholarship players left (Baylor) before this current transfer era.
Yeah Mullen had it just as tough as Rhule did to start at Florida and Mississippi St.
Well that's easy to do when you just up and leave any time there is a chance of that happening.
Rhule took over a 4 win team with Temple and didn’t have a winning season til year 3.
Mullen took over a 4 win team with Miss. St and won 9 games by year 2. In the SEC.
You are simply not a serious person if you think Rhule accomplished more.

Winning in the Mountain West is like winning in the AAC. I think Odom is going to show once again why he wasn't a success at Missouri. Coaching in the AAC and jumping to the B1G hasn't worked yet. Cincy and UCF had great years that got coaches gigs at B1G programs with better resources than Purdue. It didn't or hasn't worked out well.
We'll see if Frost can win in the Big 12.. Some guys are better at places where they can play the underdog. You can't play that card at places like Texas, Ohio State, Florida, Nebraska, Georgia, Michigan, Alabama or Penn State.
