Dan Mullen gone at Florida after 4 years

And neither of us will know who made the better decision until next year.

Easy to say Florida is doing the right thing, but let's wait for some data before proclaim anything was better.
Understand totally, 20M and SF given a chance to fix it by getting hopefully better offensive assistant coaches..

Hope the offensive coordinator can teach QB‘s and brings one with him..

I bet Lane Kiffin can name his price right now.
Kiffin has Matt Korral for a QB and that is the main reason why Ole Miss is really good this year.

In my opinion Korral the best QB in the country this year..

How about three or four from UF's offensive staff:
  • Dan Mullen
  • Tim Brewster, former Minnesota head coach
  • Greg Knox, long-time SEC assistant at UF, Mississippi State and Auburn
  • Billy Gonzalez, at UF for both Meyer and Mullen
  • John Hevesy, at UF for both Meyer and Mullen
UF is averaging 480 yards and 33 points per game against SEC opposition — 265 yards per game through the air and 215 on the ground.

Why do so many people always assume firing a coach is the right move? I remember last year when Texas fired Herman everyone here was talking about how they are “serious about winning” and “playing big boy football”. No they were just being stupid. This feels a lot like that.

Well they are serious about winning and they are hoping the next coach is "the one"

No it doesn't. Frost has a .349 winning percentage. How does it feel a lot like that? If by that, you mean the complete opposite. Then yeah. A lot like that.

Dan Mullen’s firing feels a lot like Tom Herman’s. That’s what the thread is about. You are the only one talking about Frost here.

My bad. I thought you were comparing firing a coach too early and talking about us. Yes, Tom Herman should have been given more time. Texas being Texas.

Herman completely lost the locker room by the end of last year. He had guys quit the team during the season, come back the next week and they'd start the very next game. I guess we'll see how well he does at his next gig. Hopefully, for his sake and the next school's, he's finally matured.

His in-game decisions, specifically during one possession games, was mind boggling. I'm not saying Sark is going to be the answer as head coach, but I'm willing to give him 3 years to see what he can do with guys that actually want to give effort out on the field. He does have some physical talent there already, but their mental make up is garbage. Herman's 2019 class turned out to be an utter disaster (2 eventual starters) and he lost almost all the top 10 prospects in the state the last 2 years, including Quinn Ewers. Big leaguing the number 1 recruit in the nation (who was committed to you at the time) is not a good way to build any recruiting class. Nevermind the Brockermeyer twins, whose father played at UT and was an All American and whose brother is a starting middle linebacker at UT, decided to take their talents to Alabama instead.

Bottom line, he couldn't beat Oklahoma with the best team he'd had, along with a senior QB. That was the worst Oklahoma team they'd faced in the last 10 years, especially with how brutal Spencer Rattler played that day.

Guess we'll see how it all plays out over the next few years. We'll see if Sark can build a winning program at UT and we'll see if Herman is successful at his next gig.

Could have had a Mullen or Herman offense to completely split this conference wide open, but no, Alberts goes full retard and keeps around the loser ginger boy Frost. Once again, this program is a ****ing joke.

Thanks for your investment to the program to help rid of Coach Frost..

Dan is a good coach when it comes to development. However Florida is not a developmental program like Mississippi State. He could never recruit at the levels of a Spurrier, Zoom, Meyer, or even Muschamp in his early seasons. With Georgia, Alabama, LSU, and Texas A&M having top 5 classes this does not work.

I think he will land somewhere where he will be more appreciated. Like Nebraska, Florida doesn't think 9 wins is the ceiling. Unlike Nebraska though the recruiting base in Florida is phenomenal . With Miami, and Florida State struggling , there is no excuse for classes rated in the teens.

I sort of feel like they did not fire him because of his bad season, I think they fired him because they think they have a guy lined up that they really want.
There seems to be some kind of internal meltdown going on down there. It seems the inmates are running the asylum. I can not imagine who they think they're going to get who has proven themselves more than Mullen. Could they hire Joe Brady?

They seemed to have known something when they said Frost could not bring his existing staff - assuming that rumor is true.
From the articles, it never even got that far did it? I thought I had read (hate to spread rumors) that just speaking with him didn't go well and they backed off.

On the surface it seems insane, but there might be some things behind the scenes we dont know about. Ive heard rumors the powers that be down there and Mullen didnt get along
I don't think they are just rumors. There's been all kinds of smoke down there about internal problems in their program.
