This is one dude I would not want to piss off on the football field or in the locker room. Might be the nicest guy in the world but he is one scary looking dude with an insane arsenal of skills.
I have an enormous amount of admiration for anyone who has the mental toughness to become a Seal and I truly appreciate his service. I hope Damian finds a way and ends up contributing to our team. If this happens, what a great movie his story will make!
SEAL classes start with anywhere from 200 - 250 candidates...give or take. Note that these are 200+ guys...who want to do this and think they can make it. These are NOT normal Joe's who are just curious. Only about 20-25 make it. Sometimes they'll take up to around 30 if they have an exceptional class. The rest ring out on their own. When I was at my "A" school I had a guy who wanted to go to BUD/S. I used to run with him through the woods in Mississippi. He'd do it in his boondockers. Crazy.
I pissed him off once. He just teared up and threatened legal action. I think that was him.

Someone once told me that a likely SEAL isn't the person who can do the most pullups, he's the guy whose hands you have to pry off the bar while he's trying to do one more. They are a different breed. They are all about team. Most of them are very smart. They don't quit.
It will be fun watching how Mr. Jackson progresses. Hopefully, he can break into special teams early on. At the very least, I'm sure practices have gotten a lot more interesting for everyone.
I agree. To add on to your point, I know a few SF here and there too and will also work with them on occasion. The checkered past candidates find so much adrenaline in being a seal that normal life is boring to them. I hope Damian is the All-American model type of dude, but even if he does have a checkered past, he will get the adrenaline rush he needs playing football at Nebraska.i work with a variety of SF on occasion. Their psychological strength, emotional balance, calm in a crisis, and resiliency is what sets them apart. IMO 2 types--one that has been the all american model kid and one that has had a bit of a checkered past. All are highly intelligent and most but not all are the smaller size guys.
