Unless you’re a Bengals fan, if any of y’all get this one right, I’ll know you Googled it lol because I was proud of coming up with this one on my own:
“On this date in 1983 (April 27), the Cincinnati Bengals selected a QB in the fifth round of the NFL Draft. What is the name of that QB and what is his significance to Nebraska football?”
=================================
Answers:
Jeff Christensen, a star out of Eastern Illinois, was taken in the fifth round with the 137th overall pick. Christensen is the personal QB trainer/throwing coach in the offseason for one Dylan Raiola and one Dayton Raiola (and one Patrick Mahomes).
Christensen is also a native of my hometown (Gibson City, IL) which is genuinely a wild small-world story. Town of less than 3,500 that has the only stoplight in the county. Christensen was a star QB for the GC high school team in the 70s. Noteworthy/notable names who go on to do big things at the D1/FCS level, let alone the NFL, are few and very far between.
