Their system works to the point that if you can afford it, you go to the U.S.I wish him well on his road to recovery. However, I have a question that maybe someone can answer. He lives in Canada. A place with universal health care coverage that we are constantly told is far superior to our system. Yet he needs money to come to the US for treatment. If Canadas healthcare is such a great model, why does he need to come here? And if we adopt their system, where do we go for treatments like this?
Not trying to start a political debate here or come across as a smart aleck. Just curious about how their system works
Exactly what I was going to post after reading Huskerfan2112's post but then scrolled down and saw yours.Their system works to the point that if you can afford it, you go to the U.S.
Who is "constantly telling you" that Canada's health care system is far superior to what we have here?I wish him well on his road to recovery. No, I'm not asking you for sources or disputing that there are people who argue for a single-payer health care system. But those poeple are pretty few in number, all things considered. I would say the idea has about the same amount of momentum as the free-college-for-all movement - in other words, it's talked about, but it isn't realistic and it certainly isn't going to happen anytime soon.Who is constantly telling me? Ive read numerous articles stating it. Ive seen congressional testimony advocating adoption of their system. Numerous politicians on the campaign trail over the last 10 years as well. Like I said, I was not trying to be a smart ass. But if you really insist on sources, Im sure I can find you dozens in print and on video.

2nd.As someone who jumped into this discussion, I would like to respectfully suggest that we take it up in a separate thread. I'm not trying to disrespect anyone's opinion or have the last word, but I don't want to detract from this thread's original intent or get it locked. Thanks.
