Per Rivals:

22 - LB (12)
21 - DB (12)
14 - OL (10)
11 - Athlete (5)
11 - TE (4)
10 - DE (7)
10 - WR (7)
9 - QB (8)
3 - DT (2)
3 - RB (3)

114 total offers out to date. 70 are to Rivals 250 players, shown in () above. Last year (the class that just signed) we had 265 total offers, 105 were Rivals 250 players. We signed 3 top 250 players, one of which was a "gimme" in Raridon ("gimme" is not to start a fight, but indication of a player that might require less recruitment).

Not a big deal to me, but just for "icebreaker" purposes, I'm looking forward to getting our first 2017 verbal. For 2017, either some coaches are getting their work done quicker, or we're looking at taking DB's/LB's again in this class. And that's not including where the "Athletes" fall in terms of recruited position.

I think 2017 is going to be a good year for in-state talent.

I can think of at least three NE kids that are scholly worthy and maybe a fourth one towards the end of the 2017 cycle.

If NU can get the Calabasas kid(s) on board, along with Mcquitty (Mo), and some of the other big peer recruiting targets, it could be a very fruitful class.

I think these numbers reveal that the staff intends to accept more than one DB commitment this year (see Djimon Colbert discussion).

The DT recruiting continues to baffle me, but it's still very early.

Maybe after our new DL coach is announced we'll see more DT tackle offers go out. I look at recruiting as a work in progress anyway and it's February.

I noticed OSU already has 11 commits for 2017. Of course, Mack Brown always had that many or more this time of year and that was a mixed blessing for sure.

Mac's tactic was to offer a kid at their junior days and give them until the end of the weekend to commit so it actually usually happened a little later. but it was proven to be a bad way to recruit as they filled their class with guys they had only seen as juniors and many didn't progress as HS seniors as expected,

We've got some offers out to DTs. I'm sure that the new D line coach will have some say in who we recruit and will have some relationships already built with recruits.

Did I miss a thread on our first in-state offer? Austin Allen. TE/DE out of Aurora. Big basketball player as well.

I saw that we had offered him, and we're first to offer. I don't know that much about him though.

It was a busy week for offers adding 38. We have 152 offers out now. 82 are Rivals top 250 players.

26 - LB (14)
25 - DB (13)
22 - OL (12)
16 - Athlete (9)
13 - TE (4)
16 - DE (7)
12 - WR (7)
8 - QB (8)
7 - DT (3)
7 - RB (5)

Added: 4 LB, 4 DB, 8 OL, 5 Athlete, 2 TE, 6 DE, 2 WR, subtract 1 QB, 4 DT, 4 RB. OL and DE new offers saw the most activity, adding 8 and 6, respectively. Just guessing, one of our previous QB offers involved some type of miscommunication between coach and player or was a reporting error on my part. QB recruiting is the most "elite" as all 8 offers are to Rivals top 250 players, with 3 still being uncommitted.

Spring practice is underway, and the spring game is a little over a month away.

As of today, we have a total of 201 offers out with 99 being to Rivals top 250 recruits. I looked at this not too long ago, and iirc we were at 201 then as well.

29 - LB (12)
31 - DB (18)
25 - OL (11)
22 - Athlete (8)
16 - TE (4)
25 - DE (12)
18 - WR (10)
11 - QB (11)
14 - DT (6)
10 - RB (7)

Areas seeing the largest increase in numbers: +9 DE and +7 DT. With +6 for DB, Athlete, and WR. QB is still the most "elite" position with 11/11 being Rivals top 250 recruits, following by RB with 7/10.

Now onto scholarship distribution. So, Graham Nabbity has been awarded a scholarship, that takes us to 88 scholarships. We'll need to drop 3 to get to 85 by the fall. So for the 2017 class, we could have 20 to 23 (depending on who drops off) plus any oversigns. It will be interesting to see our path following the spring game.

how do these numbers stack up to our previous recruiting offers for the past 4 years?
