Can someone please explain to me why Creighton's RPI is so high? The Bluejays have played four games against RPI top 100 teams and lost all four. They have six road wins but against Stetson (164) and Murray State (249). Otherwise, they've racked up a bunch of home wins against 100+ teams. Their SOS is 97. I don't get it.

Their opponents winning percentage is above .500..........it will tumble by default as they get into Big East play. Like ours has since playing Purdue and NW.

It's all in the numbers.

Husker win % - .688
Their win % - .741
Our opponents' win % - .474
Their opponents' win % - .538

They win at a better clip and played against better opponents.

Well...to be fair, we have played more "better" opponents in terms of good teams. We just have also faced bottom more dweller teams that have really weighed down our numbers. Creighton will face a similar schedule once they get deeper into Big East play with teams such as Butler and Nova.

Yep, the numbers are going to flip.

Remaining opponents win %
Ours - .583
Theirs - .495

And you're right, they haven't played anyone close to the best teams we've met.

The real answer is the rpi gets more accurate as the season progresses. Its just entertainment for most of us unless our livelihood depends on it.

Exactly right. RPI is volatile and has no useful meaning until selection day. Good entertainment, tho.
