crazy stat

I read somewhere that Saturday was the first Husker game in 15 years that:
1. Huskers committed 2 or fewer penalties
2. Opponent tirned the ball over 3 times or more

I am not sure if it is true, but that is crazy. I know we have seen some super sloppy football, but I find it hard to believe that is that big of a rarity.

hopefully that trend continues. Penalties are real drive killers for the offense or drive extenders for the defense. Clean that up and protect the ball. If that happens, the Huskers just might be able to make a good run.

I'm really glad to see that penalty stat. That right there shows major improvement. Regardless of how anyone feels about the MR hire, when you see us commit so many penalties it's hard to argue you're a well coached team. So I am stoked to see that and appreciate you posting it.

It's not true. They did it twice in 2012 - S. Miss and Iowa. They also had only 3 penalties in several games over the past 7 years.

In 2012 southern miss had one turnover and Iowa had two. Soooooo the OP is correct.
I only read it. I just found it hard to believe since over at least the last 7 years, amazing fundamentally sound football was being taught.

Here's a crazier stat: Last Saturday Ohio State was called for a holding penalty for the first time since the 2013 season

I saw that too, but I believe it was the first time flagged for holding in a conference game... Non conference or bowl game wasn't included in that stat. Either way, that's pretty sick.

It was nice to have these guys work your game last week. Not sure if you will get that draw again.

It was actually the first time Nebraska finished +3 in turnover margin since joining the Big Ten. I attribute that stat to Sam Mckewon. Pretty amazing stat... And kinda sad.
