A while back I mentioned the odd recruitment and story about Stanley Daniels @NSECTA4 reminded me he had actually written the story ... here's part of what he wrote:
NSECTA4: That was the case with Stanley Daniels Sean. I know because I reported on his recruitment for Roz. His coach was a great guy. The man pulling the strings all along was a 'benefactor' who had paid for Stanley's private school tuition. The benefactor was whispering in Grandma's ear. The coaching staff thought they had to sell mom, but Grandma made the decisions in that family.
His coach had already told Roz that Stanley was going to sign papers with NU while I was on the way to the school. When I got to the school, Stan was happy to see me but the 'benefactor' interrupted and screamed at me in the school offices asking why I was there. I said I was there reporting for the Nebraska Rival's site. He berating me because 'Nebraska was always calling and bothering the family. They called just now."
After Stan's mom got to the school ... VERY LATE ... the school staff, family and benefactor went into a private room. Stan told me to come on but the benefactor snapped at me that this was a private family affair. They were in there for at least 45 minutes. When they came out, Stan came right up to me, solemnly ... not his usual upbeat self and told me he had signed with Washington.
I could tell this HS coach was both livid and mentally exhausted.
