Cortisone shot in shoulder

Anyone have any experience with these? Went in yesterday, been having some nagging shoulder pain. Doc wanted to try a cortisone shot before we went for an mri. Woke up this morning and my shoulder is 10x worse than before. It is sore enough that I don't want to move my arm if I don't have to. Anyone that has had these, is this normal?
