I know a lot of the fan base is going crazy about how Nebraska is losing these games, and hell yeah it hurts, but it is not too far off what happened to MSU in 2012. I don't know how many of their games other than the Nebraska game they lost in the last second but all we close loses with the exception of Notre Dame. Take a look at their schedule, 5 conference loses by a total of 13 points!

Aug. 31, 2012 Boise State W 17-13 1-0
Sept. 8, 2012 at Central Michigan W 41-7 2-0
Sept. 15, 2012 Notre Dame L 20-3 2-1
Sept. 22, 2012 Eastern Michigan W 23-7 3-1
Sept. 29, 2012 Ohio State L 17-16 3-2 (0-1)
Oct. 6, 2012 at Indiana W 31-27 4-2 (1-1)
Oct. 13, 2012 Iowa L 19-16 4-3 (1-2)
Oct. 20, 2012 at Michigan L 12-10 4-4 (1-3)
Oct. 27, 2012 at Wisconsin W 16-13 5-4 (2-3)
Nov. 3, 2012 Nebraska L 28-24 5-5 (2-4)
Nov. 17, 2012 Northwestern L 23-20 5-6 (2-5)
Nov. 24, 2012 at Minnesota W 26-10 6-6 (3-5)
Dec. 29, 2012 TCU W 17-16 7-6

The following year they went 13-1 and won the Rose Bowl!

and most of their wins were close as well. They could have easily lost to Boise, Indiana, Wisconsin, and TCU. They could have been 12-1 or 3-10.

Right, but seeing where the program is now, can you really argue that sticking with Dantonio was the wrong move? Go ahead and take your time on this one if you need. I'll wait patiently.

I think they could more easily deal with it since the previous year (2011) their record was 11-3 and 7-1 in the B10. Dantonio has also been at MSU since 2007. He came there after following John Smith who had a 4-8 record and 1-7 in the B10 in 2006.

I don't think that we should overreact to our current situation either considering all the injuries and lack of depth in key defensive positions. We also have quite a few games left to play and players are now returning on the defensive side from injuries sustained very early in the season.

Riley is no Dantonio. Let alone Italian.

How does this relate to NU '15? In the two seasons prior, MSU went 11-2 & 11-3 with a conference championship one of those years.

Can we now stop with this stupid attempt at comparing these two teams? There is no comparison.

I think Dantonio is a hell of a coach, I was just pointing that sometimes people only look at record and don't see how close games can go either way, if you can't see that in my post I'm sorry it was so confusing for you.

No comparison. The prior MSU season has been mentioned plus MSU was going through some transition where they had nobody at QB. Maxwell was their starter and he was terrible.

Maybe there is no direct comparison, but there is a point to be made here. So MSU goes 11-2, 11-3, 6 loss season, then 13-1, all 4 seasons with the same HC, with no major changes or glitches except for a barely serviceable qb on the 6 loss season. NU has a complete coaching staff change, lack of quality depth at many positions, new schemes on both sides of the ball, a real inconsistent qb, and some may say that the psyche of the team is out of whack. IMO, NU has way more hurdles to jump than the 6 loss MSU team. I believe it only fair to give this staff a chance to get this squared away and back on the right track. Again, just my opinion.

Riley had a history of blowing 4th quarter leads at Oregon State...I believe 7 times in his last 3 years there.

Ill wait to make my comparison until the end of the year. We havent even played the meat of our schedule and you are assuming we would end up the same way. I have a feeling by the end of the year there will be a couple of big loss games on our schedule. Im trying to avoid a gloom and doom outlook, but I think the real Nebraska is somewhere in between super positive and "the sky is falling"

The only thing I was comparing was the close loses. You were the one that brought up prior seasons!

I heard on the local sports after the game on Saturday that Pelini was 65-3 when leading in the fourth quarter at Nebraska. Riley has managed to blow 3 fourth quarter leads already, nowhere to go but up right!
