It's colora-do, they don't know any better and strive for average.
Macintyre hired Jim Levitt as defensive coordinator who now is Oregon's new defensive coordinator..
Hardly would call that average. Would you?
There is a lot of criticism going around of former assistant coaches at Nebraska that probably is just second-hand criticism that should be directed at their ex-boss.
Els isn't that great, but he wasn't that bad either. He knows some football. He's good enough to coach somewhere. CU probably fits.
Heck, North Carolina pretty much has an entire defensive staff of ex-Husker coaches.
CU couldn't come close to UO at $1.15 million and four year contract. Interesting Leavittt has a penalty if he leaves early except to be head coach at Kansas State.MacIntyre is a good coach, but he'll have hard time assembling and keeping a solid staff at CU. Hamstrung by a relatively low budget and restrictions on how many multi-year contracts the CU athletic department is able to issue. Leavitt was a great hire but you figured he would move onto greener pastures - and he even had a pretty big contract at CU.

Well, he was at least incrementally better than the prior recruiting coordinator at NU.Ok, maybe I'm being too hard on Els. Can someone give me evidence of on field performance getting better with him as coach? Maybe Bo was to blame but for instance when Bo took over special teams they immediately got better. Show me a time when Els took over that something immediately got better or even incrementally got better.
