i think this guy is doing a hellovajob with what he's got. Finally have majority of tackles coming from the LB unit. They seem way quicker to the ball than years past and this with a total mash unit to contend with.

Agree completely.

Agree, there are some coaches I like. If Riley does lose out and no chance he is being fired, AT BARE MIN Banker and or Langsdorf need to be let go. I would be shocked if zero coaching changes are made with a 2 win season.... Side thought, does anybody know when/ if nebraska has ever won only 2 games in a season?

To answer my own question, Yes it happend in 1957 they went 1-9, 1951 2-8 Pretty well most of the 1940s. lol

1) First of all, Langsdorf is not going anywhere after 1 year. 2) Bray has worked is ass off coaching and recruiting. We need to keep him long term.

So you don't like having a stellar run D? Ok then...

Dylan Wynn was a D-linemen at Oregon State and coached by Joe Seumalo not Trent Bray.

I agree that Trent Bray is a really good coach though and was also a great linebacker at Oregon State.

I'm going to guess there won't be coordinator changes. Langsdorf is half the reason the O'Briens and Gebbias of the world are potentially coming here, let alone the other offensive talent. If he can find a good "pitch and catch" guy, he may straight up look like a genius, its all about the players.

Banker probably will not get tossed over board this year. He flipped the run D around basically overnight, on a team with a MASH unit for a front 7. If the secondary is atrocious next year, I could see Stewart at a minimum tossed overboard.

Banker is the Defensive coordinator he controls run d and passing d last I checked

I've been watching Ralph Brown's twitter feed closely this year. He hasn't really called for anyone's head on the secondary. He typically makes comments like these:

Ralph D. Brown II ‏@RalphDBrown Sep 26

If Jonathan Rose scoots up a foot on his press coverage or crowds the line, he'll get hands on these wideouts "every time". Game of inches.

Ralph D. Brown II ‏@RalphDBrown Oct 6

1/4's coverage can be VERY complicated -- depending on alignments, concepts, formations, etc. Can be a TON of thinking for DB's & LB's.

This would lead me to believe that instead of tossing the whole defense, we're going to keep recruiting and letting guys get acclimated to this new style.

I thought being 2nd in the big 10 was good, apparently not.
Kinda of like Pelini's defenses - were they really good on pass defense or did teams just run the ball because our rush defense sucked - I question whether our defense is really good in rush defense. It more likely is that opposing teams see no real need to run because our pass defense is so bad

I predict Leidner (who I dont think has gone over 250 passing this year) will have at LEAST 250 through the air on us...and minnys o is terrible.

Do we have a stellar run D? Are we talking about the one that gives up long runs in the 4th quarter?
Not sure if you saw the time of possession and the number of plays run... Both favored Wisconsin. Late in games, when you have no substitutes available due to injuries, people get tired. I would imagine that might explain the longer runs in the fourth quarter.

LB play and tackling overall has been improved. Still no pass rush when they need it, though. Not Bray's fault, but you sure noticed it on Wisconsin's game-winning drive.

You should have seen how gassed the guys looked. Not just then but with 10 minutes left in the fourth quarter. The defense played their guts out and played well in my view. We just don't have a lot more options at this point.

Another Tom Brady reference on Saturday's telecast?
There's a guy here in the twin cities that has repeatedly stated even Tom Brady would have pedestrian stats at Minnesota behind their line. Cracks me up every time hearing this guy compare Leidner to Brady. In fact, last weekend he even threw in Aaron Rodgers along with Tom Brady.

Pretty sure he had close to 280 a few weeks ago, but normally, he is terrible.

Youre right. Just looked it up he had 264 against Ohio. But other than that he has been around 200 or less. I think he eclipsed 200 1 other time this year.

Regarding Bray, I though M Newby had one of the better games by a LB vs Wisky, since L.David was here. He prevented at least 3 completions on guys he was covering. This from a guy who was getting spot duty at DE last year. I'm very anxious to see what he will be able to do with more healthy bodies.

I'd blame that on a lack of ball control by the offense.
Lol. Wisky had the ball for 10 plus minutes in the 4th quarter. But I am sure the resident expert knows that, and how we are so thin on D that Kalu was throwing up on the field multiple times the last 2 drives. I am sure he was at the game and saw that....

So the stellar run D couldnt stop them to get the ball back...

Remind me how many QUARTERS a game is again?

Why do you continually get to run down the program, coaches, and players? You are in clear violation of board rules here. Is this the double standard you keep imagining? I demand satisfaction from the mods, my feelings are hurt!
