Watching coach Banker's interview after practice I notice the "Click it or ticket" logo on the banner behind him. I know Click it or Ticket has been a sponsor for several years.
I think it's a dumb waste of taxpayer money.
Let me be clear. I do not think seat belts are dumb. They are very important. They save lives. I always wear my seat belt.
However, the Click It or Ticket campaign is dumb. A Husker sponsorship and all those ads they run aren't cheap. And in my opinion the campaign is totally ineffective. Any car made after a certain date (I looked it up once. It was decades ago, so pretty much all the cars on the road today) are required to have an alarm that chimes every few seconds when a passenger is not wearing their seat belt. So if someone is not wearing their seat belt, they are going to be reminded every 20 seconds (or whatever) that they are not wearing their seat belt, or they went through the trouble to figure out how to disable this alarm. Either way, they're pretty dedicated to not wearing their seat belt and no catchy slogan behind a Husker coach is going to convince them otherwise.
The vast majority of people wear seat belts anyway. As I said, the few that don't aren't going to be convinced to do so by an ad slogan. So we're just throwing away money on this stupid Click It or Ticket ad campaign.
