I have always been an outspoken propenent of in-state student/athletes who I think should be offered or are solid recruits. This year two guys I have said should be offered immediately are OL Ryan Bena and OL/DL Mehki Butler. I have to admit a mistake and make a retraction. I am still fully committed that Mehki Butler of Omaha North should be a Nebraska offer guy (without question); however, OL Ryan Bena is more suitled for the FCS, not Nebraska. I know Ryan is a great student/athlete and young man and he may develop into a big time guy, but I recently had a chance to re-evaluate Ryan Bena as well as being told another thing that have compelled me to rescind my vouching for him. In recruiting, your word on a recruit matters and Ryan has some things to clear up before I can vouch for him again. All that said, Ryan is a wonderful young man from an outstanding family! When he wants to be, he is special....
