Chubba

HH won't be a QB much longer. He was serviceable as long as he didn't turn the ball over, but with the turnovers he's just a marginally less awful Sims.
Chubba is a relatively good QB. He got thrown into action against the two of the three best defenses we faced this year and did pretty good. If Iowa had even a mediocre offense they'd be in the playoff. That defense shut down Michigan for the most part.

I think HH will have a role and will touch the ball every game next year. I also hope Purdy stays, he would be an ideal back up.

Ideal backups are mentally tough, available and can be trusted to run the plays the coaches call

Purdy is none of those

how profound. I hope a QB that’s never won a game in 5 tries stays but i hope a QB with a winning record leaves. Seems intelligent. Bahaha

HH was our leading rusher and leading passer last year. Let’s also ignore that.
Ignoring nothing. HH played against the worst teams on our schedule this year. And he looked like total shit in every game we won. If not for our defense he would have been the losing QB in every one of those games. We won what we won this year purely on the backs of our defense. HH was a turnover machine in several games and constantly missed open receivers. He is a decent runner, I will grant him that, but overall he was a crap QB. This was THE worst offense at Nebraska in modern history and one of the THE worst offenses in all of D1 football this year. And HH was our starter in 8 of those games. He was not the only reason our offense sucked this year, but I think the poor QB play this year was 75% of the reason. The other 25% is injuries. I hope he leaves and finds a program at a lower level he can help out.

I prefer Chubba because he is the better passer of the two and his wheels are also not too bad. I do not ever want him as a starter, but I think he could be a serviceable backup.

If you are happy with HH’s performance this past year, then, by all means stump for him. But HH was not good Once other teams figured him out.

I think we will have to agree to disagree on this one. I prefer ugly wins over pretty losses. You apparently choose those “close” losses. NW & IL both better than MD, a game that Purdy had a shot to win but didn’t.

But I do agree we need another QB to come in and take the job. And we are massively over due for a QB to actually stay healthy for the season. That’s not asking a lot. Most teams don’t lose QBs every year to injuries. I think we both can agree on That. But I’d love to see HH stay and try to develop. He’s a better leader than Purdy and we can use him in other ways if we were to land McCord.

Dang, you've lost it in going ruthless on this one...

I'd love for HH to be here til he's out of eligibility... As a TE/emergency QB.

Chubba’ pics against Maryland and Iowa were brutal. That is why I don’t want him as a starter. He was just as prone to bullshit turnovers at the worst time as Sims and HH. But he also did not have the benefit of the really stellar defense we had earlier in the year and which was clearly wearing down by the last 2-3 games of the year.

Bottom line is this: our offense sucked all year and it did not matter who the QB was. We won 5 games because of defense. Not because of HH. When he was our QB what did we average? 13 points a game? Give me a break.

And no, I don’t prefer pretty losses to ugly wins. Every game we played this year was ugly. We won 5 and lost 7. But they were all ugly.

Chubba is the better passer. That is why I want him to stay. Period.

Ruthless is our streak of losing seasons. That is what is ruthless. What I want is to have a talented roster again. I want excellence. I want a winning f$cking season. I want us to stop settling for third rate guys at QB and pretending that under the “right” conditions they could be All Americans. I want us to stop the bull. HH stinks as a QB. So do Sims and Chubba. Not one of them is very talented. But I think Chubba at least can throw the damn ball. HH looks like he is skipping rocks when he throws with that stupid sidearm, sandlot football, delivery.

Everybody is getting better via the portal not just Nebraska. We can't just stand still unless we're loaded and even then teams like Ohio State/Georgia are trying to get better.

I hope that Chubba stays. I also hope HH does not.
IF and it’s a big IF we land a guy like McCord, that would be a big signal for HH to either hit the portal or change positions. Two completely different and contrasting styles of QB. HH would never see the field again as a QB at NE.
IF we were to get a guy like Howard or Ward, then HH could still be a backup imo that will still hopefully never play as QB in a meaningful snap at NE again.

AMEN!

I want both Chubba and Haarberg to stay...both as QB. If Haarberg can help the team at another position, that's good, too. Having two guys that have played as much ball as they have is an asset on the depth chart, not a liability. I'm not advocating that either should be QB1 (barring significant improvement), but they both bring something to the table.

I know the general consensus is that Satterfield sucks, but as a counterpoint I would argue that these 2 QB's both showed a lot growth from when we previously saw them. Chubba looked beyond horrible last year, and Haarberg looked just as bad in the spring game (2023). I think they can both improve some more.

You and Kong are:
1. Troll
2. Related to HH in some way, or
3. Smoking Crack

You’re bragging about a guy who was at the QB position when the Defense won the games despite the offense’s best attempt to piss the game away. He did not win those games.

The worst teams on the schedule, in order with the starting QB were: 1) N Illinois: HH 2) La Tech: HH 3) Purdue: HH 4) Michigan St: HH 5) Illinois: HH 6) Minnesota: Sims 7) Northwestern: HH 8) Colorado: Sims 9) Maryland: HH 10) Wisconsin: Purdy 11) Iowa: Purdy 12) Michigan: HH

I would argue Colorado was a slightly better team at the time we played them than they were much of the latter half of the season, and NW improved after our game slightly.
Purdy finally started against 2 of the three best defenses we played all year and played decently overall. Haarberg started against the 5 weakest teams on the schedule and lost to #4 in a poorly played game by the QB. He played well enough to win with a stellar defense against NW. Nobody was going to beat Michigan.
Sims might well have lost every game on our schedule. I have no problem saying Purdy beats 1 - 5 and gives us a better chance against 6-9 if he had been the starter and healthy.
What HH did well AT FIRST was not turn the ball over. When he started doing that, mostly due to adjustments by opposing defenses that now had film of him, he struggled terribly.
To anyone that isn't a complete in-state homer, HH's deficiencies are as glaring as Sims'. He just isn't a QB. He is an athlete that can contribute at TE or even LB.

Northwestern beat Wisconsin

But your point is received
