Yah I have to think both of those issues are a factor. I'm not overly worried myself.

I'm all for coaches doing what's best but if there is anyone who needs to be loyal to their current head coach and staff after the past year it is KW.

On one hand I want to agree with you, but on the other hand can I argue that Nebraska kept him on because it was best for them to? Everyone is using everyone in bigtime CFB, and most people take a similar job if more money is offered. I have no idea if he'd even consider LSU but I sure won't hold it against him if he leaves us for more money elsewhere. Heck, Riley just showed us a couple of times that everyone is expendable at anytime, and you might even get fired over the phone. This business isn't built for loyalty. Of course I hope he stays, but he doesn't owe us anything over and above what we're paying him for and I'd say he's paid off on that area in spades.

Well then if he would leave I would say we should be very mature about it. Congratulate him on new opportunities and newfound wealth.

And then throw him a hell of a send-off party. ;)

Banker was a head scratcher from the start and I understand why it happened, but didn't Nebraska can him the minute somebody better came along, over the phone no less? I didn't care about how it was handled personally, I'm just asking the question. Plus, not only did we keep KW, but here we are a few short months later and LSU would hire him? So it isn't like he'd be homeless were it not for us, KW was going to be employed at a bigtime school again, and quick. We kept him because it benefitted us to, It wasn't a case of charity. Just seems like in business's everywhere, way more loyalty is expected out of an employee you like, than the business he actually works for. We've all seen it. Just so we're clear here, I want him to stay and kinda think he owes it to us as well, but I won't blame him if he doesn't feel the same way.

Banker and Read were performance based. KW would have been fired from just about every school in the country for that 3rd DUI. IMHO.
I would think if your on your 3rd dwi, you would find a team in a big city with a subway. and you wouldn't need to drive for anything.

Even in Lincoln you do not need to drive if you have been out drinking. With the money he makes he could buy his own cab with his own driver. lol. But my guess is that he has been told by Riley that he cannot drink in public at all anymore. Zero tolerance. And that would probably be true for any other school that takes a chance on him.

I also think he knows he has a very good gig going in Lincoln.

We ran into Mark Philip when I went to the Indiana game at a bar in town. My group has seen him out before on road trips and we wanted to get a picture again, but he said the kibosh had been put out on the staff getting pictures in bars on road trips and such.

We didn't feel it was appropriate to ask him if KW had any special circumstance in addition, obviously.

Sounds like a pretty good policy to me.

Any coach at a Power 5 school who gets a DUI is a dunce. Arrange transportation. Consider it part of the job. Three DUIs is a sign of a problem. He has racked up way more $$$ in legal fees than he ever would have spent in cab fare.
