He schedule a visit there for this week and they play in a P4 league. Also, as you stated, they are down 5 RBs.

At Nebraska, he's likely to get playing time his first year, and EJ will likely move on after this season. It's a decent setup IMO.
Why Ives is is at the RB position sort of baffles me. Then you have Williams and then 2 guys taking up FB spots (Dicky & Uhlir) leaving just Nelson as possibly being your true #2 RB.. maybe that kid works out, I don't know.. but the roster management to me looks a bit confusing.
I'd bring this kid in and let him battle with Nelson for the #2 at a minimum if not outright give him the number 2 spot.. Move Ives to WR and he's already the special teams guy, which is fine. Do we really need 2 fullbacks for a Dana Holgerson offense? how many times are we going to utilize the fullback under his offense. 10 plays a season? It doesn't make sense to me.

I’m assuming NU will make an offer as to where they project him as a contributor. But it’s almost a lock that several others will pay more. The kids is from Omaha and maybe he will want to be able to play in Memorial Stadium several times for the last few years of his career.
The visit to Nebraska would be to just watch practice on Thursday, and isn't yet set in stone. Just stating what I heard. He will visit Cal this weekend, that visit was set up via zoom. Kansas St is in the picture, Gabe Ervin is hurt again, so there is a need there. It is my impression from someone that should know, is that Nebraska is not going to get into a situation where they are just going outbid everyone else nor are they going to guarantee playing time.

You are throwing shit against the wall . First you state in this thread he doesn’t have a Nebraska visit. Then well I it’s only a practice. The kid may or may not end up at Nebraska. But either way you have no knowledge of the situation.

Possibly. Look at from the boards side. You say he is not coming. He doesn’t have a visit set up . Well the visit is only a practice . So many inconsistencies of your post its the only conclusion. There are so many that claim to have inside knowledge. Sorry if you are offended but it a natural conclusion IMO.
Perhaps he is somewhat familiar but from what I am told, there are currently no in person meeting set up to discuss him transferring to Nebraska.
I am sure at Miami, he went through the whole dog and pony show, meeting with the coaches, getting the tours, discussing the potential rev share and any other NIL deals with their collective.

Feeling good about the room and being open to adding someone better if it made sense can both be true.
He’s also on record of saying he will never apologize for adding talent and forcing competition. Those that don’t want to compete or afraid of it - should find another team.

Per Schaefer (on a podcast with Bruntz), NU would take him, but is not actively pursuing past a little tire kicking. Miami, Cal and KSU are serious, with KSU kind of subbing as the hometown school. His read is that NU is indeed satisfied with their RB room. He thinks Miami is putting on a hard sell on CharMar.
Sounds good to me. Too many Anthony Grant vibes. Bigger guy that wants to dance around. You can do that against a slow defense with a good offensive line at the lower level. Not in the Big 10. Could be dead wrong but that’s the vibe I get. I do like the idea of another every down guy to share the load in the non-conference games to keep EJ fresh for later but I just don’t see a real fit with this guy. Go get a Senior backup RB that is gone next year anyway or we probably lose Parker at least.

These two are great compliment to each other and protects of Emmitt were to get dinged up.
Also allows staff to be bit more patient with Parker.
if true, this pisses me off.. F the whole air raid nonsense.. our RB rooms have been trash for years now.. I mean it, what a huge pile of suck by this staff incl the running backs coach, who should have been let go a long time ago.
I don't find that hard to believe at all. If they could get him at a "bargain" price I could see them adding him to the room. But I don't think they would or should over pay him. I say that having no clue what we have behind it starter.
They say Miami would likely over pay. Call could offer an instant start position maybe. KSU might be a great fit as well. I'll admit I "like" him but don't "love" him. KSU might be a good fit as well. The guy ITT mentioned Anthony Grant vibes. That might be very similar. Not sure how I would feel about that right now tbh. Again not bad.. But not quite a game changer either.

I hear ya about the quality of our RB rooms. I'm also not high in our RB coach as a recruiter. I DO think he is a good coach and developer though. His guys seemingly get better under his tutelage.
All that said what is this "air raid nonsense" you speak of lol. I must have missed it and what it has to do with a below average RB room .

Last RB we had taken in the NFL draft was nearly a decade ago, and it was a fullback - Andy Janovich. Sad fact given our proud history running the ball. For all the grief the OLine has gotten in recent years, there has been more NFL talent in that room than in the RB room.
Did they get better last year because of him or because of Holgorsen?
