Munger saw the sheer ability and decided to help Buffet craft a philosophy of investing, a great right hand man to be sure, but Buffet was/is the empire.
Brilliant man. Also freaking hilarious. I went to a couple of shareholders' meetings back when anyone with 'B' shares could attend, and I still laugh thinking about Munger's one-liners.
No question he had some great one liners… Very intelligent man more ways than one..
I regret not going before it became really, really popular. Now I feel like it's just trendy.
It was already trendy back then, actually, and this was more than 20 years ago. Everyone used to get an invitation in the mail for up to 4 tickets, so I always took them. Most years I gave the tickets away, because I lived in Lincoln and would have to take the day off to go. But people liked getting the tickets - it was like comping them to a ball game or a concert.
I care about as much as he would care if I died.
I remember one meeting and while Warren was answering some random question Charlie sat there stuffing his face with Sees chocolates. He was a beauty.
I am a B share guy and went for the first time last year. Pretty disappointed, at least to me. Just a glorified flea market. Everyone had a dilly bar but there was no give aways.
Munger and Buffet were trying to be cute and funny. Mildly so, but people were falling out of their laughing. I guess they figured anything they said must be brilliant and if it was in humor, it must be over the top.
It was dull as could be.

Yeah I'm sure the meeting's heyday is long past. It wasn't a must-do thing for me, but I'm glad I went to a couple.
I went in 2004, and the fangirls gushing over everything Warren/Charlie said or did was pretty annoying. Interestingly, Warren flat-out warned that the subprime mortgages were going to be a catastrophe, which proved prophetic.
The highlight for me was standing in the convention center vendor area, staring into space while my lady friend went to look for something. I heard a commotion, turned around, and saw Warren about 20 feet away and closing fast. His neckless bodyguard brushed me aside like I was made of balsawood. That was the highlight for me.
Munger had over 4,000 shares of Berkshire stock.

The wealth that company has generated for people in Nebraska is crazy. Wouldn't have been able to buy my house without selling a portion of my B shares and getting the insane return I got.

And Henry Kissinger at 100. Munger seemed like the bad cop to Buffet's good cop.
Why doesn’t this dinosaur do something worthwhile for the great state of Nebraska and pop a couple hundred mil into the DONU NIL?
