The Iowa/MSU game showed how championship FB can be played in the B1G. Hardnosed, smart, few errors. Championship Ds with offenses that do enough to get the job done. Athletes and good recruiting are required, but let's face it MSU and the Hawks are not stocked with high flying recruiting classes. It's about guys who commit to how their coaches want the game played and play for each other. Did you see any ego players out there?
Nebraska obviously needs to address some holes re recruiting. But it's what those kids do when they get to Lincoln that counts. There are any number of highly talented teams that are not part of the final four. Championship play involves a special element of focus and effort that we've only seen sporadically since Eric Crouch graduated. The 09 D comes to mind.
