Preseason Offensive Player of the Year
QB - J.T. Barrett, Ohio State
There's no quarterback situation this time around -- he's the main man for the Ohio State offense. He's also going to be the main man for a rebuilding team that needs a veteran leader to make everyone around him better. Last year he had to give way to Cardale Jones to start the year, but the offense started to perk up once he took over with 214 rushing yards and two scores against Michigan, and with a few brilliant passing days when he got the chance to own the offense. Now it's all about him -- and he'll be up to the task.
Preseason Defensive Player of the Year
DB/LB - Jabrill Peppers, Michigan
Where's he going to play? Is he a safety? Is he an outside linebacker who'll be a dangerous pass rusher? Will be be used as a receiver, a running back, a special teamer, a Wildcat quarterback? Yes, yes, yes, yes, and at times, probably. He's a next-level athlete and talent who can do it all, and he'll be used wherever the coaching staff wants to add a little bit of flash and production.
