Did anyone else notice this opening weekend the proliferation of commercials in the broadcasts, no doubt to pay for the TV rights? ESPN has steadfastly over the years had 5 (30 second) commercials between most possessions and 6 between quarters, with a 20 minute halftime break. This year they are playing 6 commercials in most breaks and 7 during the quarter breaks, plus the halftime break has been extended to 23-24 minutes. ESPN even stooped to the dirty underhanded FOX trick of taking a commercial break before and after a kickoff a few times. Similar pattern on other networks as well. Thank God I have a DVR.
