CBD 2019 B1G Preview and Predictions

It makes sense. I’m hoping some of our Freshman and the veteran pitchers change that trajectory and gets us a top 5 finish.

This is like most preseason projections and why I don't usually like them. The analysis is usually pretty lazy-you pick most teams to finish where they finished last year and pick maybe a team or two to fall back or make a big jump. I mean, their 8-13 picks are essentially the same as last year's final standings. There are so many unknowns that it's really hard to predict, but I doubt it's going to be exactly the same as last year. I will say 9th would be absolutely unacceptable for this program, and should(but probably wouldn't) result in Erstad being fired if he didn't quit.

To me this is a pretty crucial year for Erstad. Did the team and coaches take the offseason to address the numerous issues plaguing this team?

Many players took big steps back last year with the exception of the two kids who are no longer here. Injuries didn’t help, but this team was ugly in pretty much every phase of the game. That doesn’t happen by accident.

Erstad supporter. Some times to a fault.
2018 was not ideal. Won't argue about lack of certain development.
But I believe that there were more ingredients in that recipe.
I've totally bought into 2019 but have no interest in hyping it up. Prove it.
Regardless, if the team finishes outside the B1G Tournament again,
it will be hard even for me to sugar coat it. Shouldn't have to.

Making the Big 10 tournament should be a given every single year. Not saying you are, but we should not be jumping for joy for just making it to the conference tournament. If that’s success, Erstad has done a good job of lowering the bar.
