But here's the thing: Mark Banker seems pretty good at figuring out who the important folks are too. That's why one of his first phone calls when he arrived to Lincoln was to former defensive coordinator Charlie McBride, who he met with this past week.
"Being in the profession, you looked up to people that had success," Banker said. "You want to be like a guy like that. I've talked to him since Day 1 when I walked in here. One of the first things that was brought to my attention was the situation about the Blackshirts."
Banker read the media guide to familiarize himself with the Blackshirt tradition, then asked somebody for McBride's number so he could hear it from the man who knows it as well as any. They've talked several times on the phone since.
