Casey Thomspon finally gets NIL deal

Interestimg....would love to know more about that. Does he have an interest in Ag after college?? Most NIL deals I couldn't care less about, this one sounds interesting.

Oh Yeah Lol GIF by Focus Features

Can someone explain how these collectives work? Are they basically like agents who help them find endorsement deals? I don't understand the legality of this.

that's WEIRD... how is that we're supposedly the #3 team in the nation with NIL availability, but other schools are spending EXPONENTIALLY more money for elite talent?

Could it possibly be that we're WAAAAAAYYYYY down the list on money after all?

Clue - we don't break the top 50 amongst major universities (most of which have D1 football programs) in terms of their general endowment. I know (I KNOW) that this has nothing to do with NIL, but arguably a dollar into that school's NIL fund is a dollar that Doesn't goto their general endowment. Think it was Saban who pointed that out (I think), so don't shoot the messenger. Makes it a viable variable, reciprocally. There's no reporting on any specific school's 'War Chest' for NIL that said, but name me a more useful variable in figuring out exactly how we rank up. Besides what's cited above, which is (IMHO) supporting the theory we're not in the same league as other (more successful) programs.

I think the fact we don't have any legit superstars like other schools also plays into it. Imagine a Tommie Frazier or a Grant Wistrom or an Eric Crouch on the team today? Big money NIL deals.

Pretty close to the same thing. She's selling her body to pervy dudes for cash.
Selling her image isn't close to being a porn star. Have you seen the girls on Fox news? You think they got the job because of their reporting ability? Beauty is rewarded. Always has. Always will. Nobody wants to see some fat swamp monster reading the already depressing news.

Imagine being a college gymnastics coach who has try to coach an Instagram model who makes like 50x more money than you. I can only imagine the drama on that team.

Also imagine being someone like Lexi Sun who could have raked in millions if NIL had been legalized just a few years earlier.

Winstrom...had to do it...

Seriously though, NIL value doesn't mean that's what they're getting paid, right?? Tre never received/took any, correct??

problem I see there is that BECAUSE of NIL, we're probably beyond having any 'legit superstars' anytime soon. TCU is as good as can realistically expect, IMHO. They've also been pretty rock-solid in terms of player development...

Not TRYING to be pessimistic, God knows I miss us being competitive and playing at the same high level as other successful programs, just kinda pointing out the Math here. Hard to get around it. Development is important and something we've been sorely lacking, Winning means a lot in terms of recruiting, but Money means more now.

My understanding (from a buddy who I can neither confirm nor deny that sponsors a D1 Basketball player NOT @ Nebraska) is it's pretty simple - write a check to the 1890 Project or synonymous fund, and student-athlete gets all of it, or minus a % processing fee, potentially in exchange for some marketing of said donor's business or something. Dunno about Tre, but would be shocked if he came here strictly because he wanted to.

Soooooo many dipshits were all too eager to post how title 9 would be violated with NIL, non-football or basketball players had no market, etc

They were stupid then, even dumber now

This is America
