Especially from a match-up standpoint for our defense. We will play better teams defensively for sure, but Wisky, Minny, Iowa, et al will not roll out an offense that has a big time stud QB that is incredibly mobile and can throw it down the field to huge WR's that are constantly in one-on-one match-ups with our db's.

If (big if) we can stay healthy on defense, I think Banker's scheme is perfectly suited to slow down power run teams that are not going to spread you out. We will be able to stack the box and force QB's to make tough throws down the field and beat us over the top with playmaker WR's.

I think both Miami and Sparty have the ability to do that, but I really think our defense is going to have a ton of success versus, Staave, Leidner and the rest of the QB's in B1G West. Not only are they pedestrian throwers, but none of these teams have the type of WR's we saw yesterday - Big bodies that create extremely difficult match-ups for our DB's...especially when our db's have to worry about the threat of a QB running/buying time.

Yesterday's outcome sucked, but I saw enough from our defense (especially in the second half once Hill was out) to be optimistic that this defense is going to match-up well once we get more game experience and get into the heart of conference play.

GBR!
