Forests burn down all the time. Sometimes it is needed. We've been raped by administrators and coaching staffs for quite some time, after we ran out some decent guys because we had our standards too high.

Life is a balancing act. We won't stay this way forever. Remember though, we had an extremely long run of success

I bagged out of paying attention other than watching the games during the skid, but I can imagine that it got quite toxic. Butler would be a returning starter who has been a real solid citizen over the last couple of years that doesn’t want to spend his last year in Lincoln. There is a toxic obsession with this football program that is contributing to its demise.

This should get interesting, I hate to see some of these players leave, but in the back of my mind I’m thinking it may not be a bad thing, get rid of some of these guys that have known nothing other than losing… we need to get rid of that loser mentality in the locker room, and this may help.

I say go all in on the Prime approach. Turnover the roster - but no more grabbing guys who couldn't make the field on other teams hoping we can coach em up. Pay for the guys from winning programs who have been successful and are looking for a payraise.

To be a head coach in college football right now and having to deal with this constant revolving door? Wow. Hang on to your hats everybody, it’s about to get very chaotic.
it appears eveytime a coach leaves a number of players with follow, something needs to be done this is spiraling out of control. Next thing will be a school like bama or Texas will come in offer a coach at a smaller school big money to join them and he takes his best players with him. Look what cignatte did at Indiana! He couldn’t have done this 10 years ago but it’s becoming a normal thing today

I might be a little naive for thinking like this, but with the limited 105 roster and open transfer rules, the guys on the field going forward are going to be good football players, that want to be here. Guys that want to lay it on the line for their team, their coaches, and this state. No more room for "locker room" guys, or guys that have been or are practice all-Americans, but don't get it done when it matters most. I'm OK with a little thinning of the herd like this assuming we build a strong coaching staff. I'd rather go pay proven players to fill holes with money we're saving on the smaller roster than pay kids based on a forecasted ability that we haven't seen.

We need to 8-9 games next year and then a lot of the recruiting goes away, then it turns into selection.

On a positive note should mean a lot more snaps for mcgahee in the bowl game assuming he’s still on the team
Is that even a fair assumption at this point? I'm expecting to see an avalanche of names leaving across the DL/Edge. Hope I'm wrong.

Things like this are bad for every school that isn’t a perennial contender. Any school that finds any success will be raided by whatever bigger name had a down year. Can’t get the kids to transfer just for NIL? That’s fine, just take their coach. Transfers having to sit a year protected institutions from shit like this. Now it’s a free for all. We need multi year pay to play contracts in college football yesterday.

N can find DL the caliber of JB. He probably doesn't want to start over with a new DC and DL coach his last year in college. Good luck to him
We actually need DTs, at least 2. I’d rather Butler not leave but we have plenty of players with a DE body. Wallin, Cam, Williams, Davis and even PWill.
