Unrestricted free agent. Got his chance and did well. Has done right by Cincy in always being ready and excelling on special teams. If he stays with the Bengals, it's likely he features more into their offensive plans. Per Kaipust
Ken Zampese even told the Cincinnati Enquirer, in retrospect, that maybe Burkhead should have figured more heavily in the team’s plans.
“He certainly made a case for that,” Zampese said. “Maybe we were wrong. Evidence would suggest that at this point.
“He averaged 4 yards a carry in every game he played. Same line. Same calls. Four-plus. That’s exactly what we’re looking for. There’s a place for that kind of guy in our offensive system.”

He is a prototype tough guy that would excel in New England - but he won't get paid enough to make that happen (probably too many guys at RB there if they re-sign Smokin' TheBlunts as expected).

Hope he stays with the Bengals if that's his wish. If not, it's be great if he caught on with a contender.

This comment pretty much sums up everything anyone needs to understand about the Bengals under Marv. He loves J Hill for some reason and I don't know why. I kind of get Gio but J Hill is absolutely awful. He is the slowest back in the league to hit the line. IF he was a back like Levon Bell, I'd get hitting the hole late? LB dances around to see what opens up. J Hill doesn't really do that, he's just slow out of the backfield. So he gets swallowed up in the backfield way too much.

I think he averaged 1.2 yes a career or something in 2015. 2016 was a little better, but not great. And truth be told it should have been way better. Cincy played a ton of poor rushing defenses last year.

Gio is the opposite of Hill. He was the fastest RB to hit the hole in the league. Which isn't necessarily a great thing either. I honestly think a Gio/Rex backfield would be amazing for Cincy. Problem is, Hill has one year left on his contract & Rex is long over due to get a shot. I honestly would love to see Rex in KC. I'm not sold on Spencer Ware and RB is too important for an Andy Reed offense. Rex could be the missing piece in KC

Haha, sounds like we'd all like to see Rex on our teams! I'm no exception, he'd look great as a Pat. I think he'll find a nice market this year, at least for running backs, which aren't very highly prized anyway.

Woodhead is also a free agent this year. Will be interesting to see where he ends up.

Arrrrgh. I thought this post was resurfacing because he was signed by a good team.

I don't think Free Agents can begin to sign with other teams for another week or two. Hoping my Packers pick up both Burkhead and Woodhead but we will probably re-sign Eddie Lacy. He will gain a ton of weight, get hurt, and we'll be back to playing a 4th string wide receiver all year at running back (who is actually a much better RB than Lacy haha)

No, they are both going to fly like an Eagle. And then somehow steal Ameer from the Lions.

Hes not black. It really is that simple.

Its worked out perfect..he got paid and didnt play enough to do any damage to his body. Always think if you can become a vested veteran and not get hurt you have really done yourself a service. Be good enough to make a roster and overlooked enough to not have to get beat up in games
yup, been saying this all along. making some good money and not taking a beating. I'm sure there's a part of him that knows he can and should be a bigger part of an offense, but there's also a part that has to be thinking that long term, this is just about perfect
