It was announced Tuesday that Nebraska pitcher Kyle Kubat was named the Big Ten Pitcher of the Week and outfielder Elijah Dilday was honored as co-freshman of the week along with Michigan's Ryan Nutof.
Kubat had arguably the finest start of his career in Saturday's 1-0 15-inning thriller against then No. 16 Texas. The senior tied his career high with nine strikeouts over eight innings while limiting the Longhorns to three hits. He didn't walk a batter or allow a single run. This is the first time Kubat has claimed the weekly honor. Christian DeLeon had been NU's most recent winner of the award, taking it home last Feb. 24.
Dilday started all five games in left field last week and had at least one hit in each contest, taking home his first multi-hit game in Sunday's finale with Texas. Overall he hit 6-for-13 (.462) with a 538 slugging percentage and a .500 on-base percentage.
