You never want to hear things like this and seeing a player of his talent and potential for the NFL...it makes it even harder. I feel for his family and everyone around him. RIP young man...taken way to soon.

“Georgia Tech signee Bryce Gowdy died on Monday morning. He was 17.

Gowdy, a standout receiver from Deerfield Beach (Fla.), was struck and killed by a freight train at roughly 4 a.m. ET on Monday, according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office. The same office ruled his death a suicide on Tuesday. He reportedly was packed and days away from moving to Georgia Tech's campus.

According to the Sun-Sentinel (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.), Gowdy, the oldest of three siblings, wanted to support his family through "a slew of struggles," including financial hardships and homelessness.

Gowdy's high school team and future coach Geoff Collins were among those who on Monday mourned his death.”

Damn! If you doing decent in life be thankful everyday and don't take it for granted. Some are not doing so well and sometimes it's thru no fault of their own. R.I.P young man....

No doubt, this is going all over Twitter and a bunch of people are passing on prayers and stuff like that. Figured some of us on here would like to do the same.

Kid had his whole life ahead of him. I'll admit I don't understand suicide. I'm sure most if not all of us at one point or another has felt depressed, a failure and that people they love would be better off without them. What pushes or lures them across the line is a mystery.

Feel for his family.

He was clearly dealing with some serious mental health issues and never received help. Pretty tragic situation.

Wow how heart breaking that is. My eyes swelled up a bit reading that piece. I really do feel for the that his family. But especially for him. He was carrying a lot of extra weight and burden a 17yr should never have to feel.

It is so sad he was so close to being at school and around a team that it is hard not to think of the what if on the possible positive impact that he could have had surrounding him. Just truly a heart wrenching set of events.

The really sad part is that IF he had not done this he could have more than likely helped his mother and siblings by going to school. No doubt somebody could have found work for his mother if she wanted it. There is a great deal of government assistance for housing available. Sometimes its just a matter of asking the right person where to turn to for help. Dang.
