I watched that show of the pittsburg steelers o-linemen and the sores developed on the brain from concussion.
I watched NU build a new room for brain injuries in the east stadium.
I watched a NU player get kicked out of the game last night for tackling a football player.

I watched ali knock a lot of folks out
and tyson and a few others like hagler/hearns..

and from what I get a person gets a concussion from their brain slamming against their scull. that why when a boxer hits someone chin, their brain kinds gets whiplashed against the skull, so to speak.

so what if the shoulder pads were connected to the helmet? so the head couldn't get whip lashed so much.
would that help calm the lawyers, and satisfy the doctors? it seems like if you could connect helmet and shoulder pads , and maybe beef up the padding on the front top of the helmet. it might help let football still be football, and collisions still be collisions, but just get the injuries and lawyers out of it.

There is this material they use on motorcycle gear, D30 thats moves when moved slowly, but turns into a rock when impacted. it's comfortable and not noticeable. (it came from a material developed in the iraq war, they used it on the feet of bomb squads)
if that material could be used between the helmet and shoulder pads, it could help save folks from conclusions, and not be real constrictive, if done right.

Ridiculous for football. It would mean you could never truly have your head on a swivel. If you think defending the pass is hard now.... can you imagine if a db lost the ability to turn their heads?

maybe they could make it so you can turn your head on a swivel, but if it turns too fast it would lock, like a seat belt.
the stuff worked pretty good for me.

No amount of padding or connections will stop concussions. There is too much room inside the skull for the brain to move in order to prevent them any time you have direct blows to the head. The problem isn't from the whiplash so to speak so much as it is from direct head blows that cause sudden deceleration of the skull.

Also, your head rigidly fixed to your shoulders sounds like a great way to break some necks. A lot of necks.
