Bowl Game Projections

I know there is a similar thread tonight, but this is about where we would play. Thanks to the highest Academic Progress Rate (APR), it's official:

We are going to have a bowl game.

Personally, I think any extra games can only help this team staff. 21 extra days of practice is a good thing. Also, Riley is 6-2 in Bowl Games. Finishing 6-7 would obviously be better than 5-7. You can disagree and say we don't deserve it, but honestly the bowl bid rule helped us and it landed in our lap, so we might as well do something with it. Here are the projections and teams we would match up with:

Foster Farms Bowl [Santa Clara, CA] vs. Pac-12 (Arizona, Arizona State, California, Washington)
Armed Forces Bowl [Dallas, TX] vs MWC (Colorado State, Boise State, Nevada, Utah State, New Mexico)
Pinstripe Bowl [NY, NY] vs ACC (Duke, Virginia Tech, NC State, Louisville)
Quick Lane Bowl [Det, MI] vs ACC (Duke, Virginia Tech, NC State, Louisville)


We'll see if the Bowl Committee or whoever decides the games is nice to us 5-7 Huskers. Personally, I see Minnesota (5-7) going to Detroit and us to New York and cold weather because they'll probably give
Indiana (6-6) and Penn State (7-5) the warmer weather (and better recruiting) sites. But with our fan base and the money we bring to our Bowl Games, I can also see us in California or Fort Worth. What do you guys think? Will the committee let money talk again? What's your favorite matchup? My vote is for Nebraska vs California in Santa Clara!

They announced today that the 5-7 teams will be selected by APR ranking. That puts the 4 or 5 5-7 teams that qualify in the pool and then I believe that they can be selected by any bowl, although conference agreements will roughly determine selection order. There is nothing that says who a certain bowl can or cannot pick, other than the pecking order within a conference and that they have to be at least 6-6 or one of the 5-7 APR qualifiers.

Dont see how Cal is an option from the Pac 12....The website says Pac 12#4 ..to me thats Wash St or Ucla or Utah

According to wikipedia, 7-win teams must be selected before 6-win teams. It does not state 6-win must be selected before 5-win teams... but it's wikipedia, so who knows if there's more to it.

Remember, numbers are just the order in which the bowls pick. It does not mean the 4th place team necessarily. Any eligible team can be picked at any point in the selection.

This is about the only decent thing Bo did for the program - keeping the APR high. The academic support organization built by Osborne years ago is the main driver in this though. Bo didn't screw that up at least.

at this point there a 5 spots left after the 6-6 teams. 2 teams with 5 wins play on saturday but are underdogs so it will be 3-5 spots to fill. nebraska is the number 1 team on the list so nebraska has already locked up a spot. very good chance minnesota amd illinois also go

I would imagine it would be a B1G contracted game (since the league is short of qualified teams for all the spots), and you can be certain that Delany will put the winning and .500 teams in games before the 5-7 ones (looks like Minn will also get a bid). At that point, it will probably be fair game as to which team they get.
