UPDATE

FINAL:
Nebraska 4
Indiana 2

Case Sanderson, Josh Carson and Cole Evans each had two hits and one RBI (Sanderson and Caron also scored one run apiece), Rhett Stokes scored twice.

Biggest plays of the day at the plate were...
– Sanderson's RBI 2B in the 3rd for a 1-0 lead (and eventual 2-0 lead in the inning)
– Evans' go-ahead RBI 2B in the 6th after Indiana had tied it at 2-2 on two solo HRs
– Caron's RBI 1B in the 7th for some insurance

BUT...

The story of the day was Nebraska's pitching, and the players of the game are Jackson Brockett and Drew Christo.

Brockett has followed up his historic no-hitter with two straight solid outings. Against South Dakota State just four days ago, Brockett went 3 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 2 K on 36 pitches. But today he was even better: 5 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 3 K on 71 pitches.

Christo (W, 2-3) gave the Huskers four standout innings for a Husker bullpen that has been going through it this week: He goes 4 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K on 60 pitches. Those are the most he has thrown in six weeks since he threw 83 against Northwestern on March 30. He hadn't thrown more than 50 pitches across his last five outings (9.1 IP) and had allowed 11 earned runs across those innings. Today, he was terrific and came through in some big spots.

He entered with no outs in the 6th after IU tied it up with its second solo HR and allowed a 1B to his first batter. After that, Christo retired 12 of the next 14 batters he faced across innings 6-9. The only two who reached base came via two-out error (E3) and a single two pitches later. He set down the next seven in a row on 27 pitches to close it out.

==================================================================

We’ve got the rubber match underway this afternoon at Haymarket. Hoosiers rallied to a Game 1 win Friday night, Huskers walked it off in Game 2 with a 3-run HR by Cole Evans in the 10th last night.

Game 3…

BOT 5:
Nebraska 2
Indiana 1

Huskers took a 2-0 lead in the 3rd inning:

- Case Sanderson drove in Rhett Stokes on a two-out RBI 2B (unearned run: Stokes reached on an error then advanced to 2nd on a balk).
- Josh Caron advanced Sanderson to 3rd on a 1B and Sanderson scored on a wild pitch.

Hoosiers pulled within one run on a solo shot in the top of the 5th.
