Boldt Named Academic All-American

Lincoln – Nebraska sophomore outfielder Ryan Boldt was named a third-team academic All-American on Thursday, as the 2015 Capital One Academic All-American Division I Baseball Team was announced by the College Sports Information Directors of American (CoSIDA). Boldt is the 17th baseball player in school history to earn the honor and the first since 2011 when Casey Hauptman was a second-team selection. Boldt also adds Nebraska’s nation-leading total of 316 academic All-Americans.

Boldt was eligible for academic All-American honors have being named a first-team Capital One Academic All-District 7 honoree in early May. A sophomore from Red Wing, Minn., Boldt holds a 3.79 GPA as a nutrition science major.

Boldt shined on the field and in the classroom for the Huskers in 2015. Boldt led the Huskers in average (.344), hits (75), runs (45) and stolen bases (9). The NU leadoff hitter display a great eye at the plate with 27 walks to 27 strikeouts, while also leading the team with a .429 on-base percentage. During league play, Boldt ranked ninth in the Big Ten with a .374 average and tied for eighth in hits with 34, while his on-base percentage of .467 ranked fourth.

Boldt was one of two Big Ten baseball players honored on Thursday. He was joined by Illinois senior Reid Roper, who was a second-team selection.
