WTF???? Bo takes his ball and goes home

Dear Bo Pelini Foundation Supporters,

Thank you so much for your loyal support of the Bo Pelini Foundation.

We founded the Bo Pelini Foundation in 2008 to support nonprofit organizations dedicated to the fight against cancer and juvenile and adult diabetes. In addition, the Bo Pelini Foundation has provided targeted financial assistance to programs which advance opportunities for disadvantaged children, particularly young people growing up in Nebraska. Since the Foundation began, the Bo Pelini Foundation has donated $571,604.80 to charities and organizations that fit with the Foundation mission (as of Dec. 1, 2014). More than $200,000 of the gifts have gone toward breast cancer research and care.

The Bo Pelini Foundation is proud to have met its goal of distributing at least one-half million dollars in its first five years and we couldn't have done it without the dedicated support of our sponsors. A special thanks to Trey Mytty and his Truck Center Companies who have donated nearly $40,000 for Husker Scores to the Bo Pelini Foundation.

As we begin a new chapter in our lives, we feel it is best to close down the Foundation and to discontinue the Bo Pelini Foundation Website. As such, this website will no longer be available to the public after March 31st, 2015.

Thank you,
Bo and Mary Pat Pelini,
Co-Founders of the Bo Pelini Foundation

Bo Pelini Foundation shuts down

Not a surprise really. Those kinds of things have costs to keep them running, and without the exposure of being a head coach at a major university, they probably haven't been getting the kinds of donations they were before.

Nothing to see here.

This foundation was closely aligned to his tenure at Nebraska. He may (or probably not) start another foundation at Youngstown, but this should not come as a shock to anyone.

Despite taking on a job he was not suited for and various character flaws we have discussed to death, Bo Pelini had some admirable qualities such as raising $571K for these diseases. Almost no one is all good or all bad.

Something tells me this foundation had some very shady things go down around it because of those who were involved. They are closing it down to avoid further questions being asked.

We all know you hate this man with a passion but you better have some sort of facts to spew this type of garbage other than "something tells me".

Like others have mentioned, it's not out of the norm to close something like this down now that he is gone from Nebraska.

I remember you diagnosing Taylor Martinez with a disease once....that was bullshit to. Now if you have some specific facts to back this up, you owe it to the board to share them after making that statement. You can't just drop this kind of statement, and walk away.

I would have been shocked had the foundation kept going. Does anyone know if Riley has started a foundation and if so what his cause might be? Being in the position of head coach gives one a lot of leverage to do good.

Nope. Never happened. And as a result of your mistake I will just stop you there.

No, backbroken's psych major girlfriend diagnosed TM3 with aspergers, he just told us all about it. bbsp has never hesitated making up bs to defame TM3 and BO. Sad thing is there was plenty of legit stuff to critique, but he never felt that was enough I guess.

Bullcrap, I read it. So did a lot of other people.
From what I remember (and I could be wrong), but jaw didn't actually diagnose TM with aspergers. I think he said something along the lines of knowing a Dr. and while in conversation with that Dr. about TM, that Dr. told jaw that TM has some characteristics of aspergers.

Still, jaw was totally out of line with that comment. An unnecessary low blow with no backing whatsoever.

I remember the whole Asperger's deal, I think it was around the same time someone "diagnosed" Bo with Antisocial Personality Disorder too. Don't remember who said what though.

I do think it was kind of inappropriate to make the comment about the foundation without some kind of evidence. I understand alot of people didn't like the guy, but that doesn't mean we need to crap on everything he does.

Whatever Jaw. You have zero credibility to be saying anything based on gut feelings. Take your crap elsewhere

LMAO and GermanWings was a feeder for Al-Qaeda.

Keep the crackhouses rollin', Jaw!!!!

It was the hamburger flipper in denial that came up with that crap and the tread got deleted.

Pelini certainly was a lightning rod, but thumbs up for raising money for a cause. As for Bo himself, I think everything that needs to be said has been said, I see no reason to go down the path, so to speak, anymore. He's gone, a new era is under way, no reason to look back and re-hash and snipe at each other, right?

I believe Mike Riley's charity is called "No Beaver Left Behind."

No.
That was Carl's.

Come on dude. Lets take the high road on this. A lot of money was raised & put to good use.

Sounds like it was a successful charity regardless of what you think of Bo. I am certain the recipients of the generous donations appreciated the financial support that it provided.

Some worthy projects were supported. Certainly Commendable...under the Pelini name... to some degree.

The weird part is- most wealthy people fund their Foundations with their own cash. This one raised money from others to be given out under a persons name. Lots of fans just lapped it up. Jock sniffers of the coach at good ole State Us are easily seduced. Many in Nebraska were in this case.

Give thoughtfully, give directly. This was very, very indirect 'giving'. Yet, yes many end recipients were helped

He let a foundation use his name to raise a lot of money to do some great work? The nerve of that guy, in fact the nerve of anyone who does that.

Jaw, semantics. Your post was the kind of post you would have said something like "See, I knew it, I told ya" if TM was ever found to have had, what you said he had, but gave you just enough wiggle room to be able to say "I never said he had it"...Nope, you just put that wild ass speculation out there where it didn't belong, and like all your other inside information over the years that proved to be bull.

There's a lesson here. It's not the best idea to name a business or foundation after yourself. When you are out of the picture, many times the place cannot continue on. It would be better if it was named solely after the team in someway. Then, if Bo wants to do something other than lend his name to it, he can make visits and give speeches. There's a reason very few celebrities have their own food lines although many try. Most do not want to put in the work for them to succeed. They want to smile for the camera and cash checks.

I agree good things were supported. The nuance is the money others gave was re-gifted to things he wanted to support. That is the unusual part.

Bo did a lot of quiet generous things.

Doesn't say a whole lot about Nebraska women. Carl makes Slingblade look like a matinee idol.

It isn't about the high road spark, it is a out the fact that this foundation has to have had some major operating expenses, based on what they were donating and what they took in for revenue. I mean, it isn't like Pelini was exactly above board with other money handlings.

Are their financials publicly available? link or source? I mean, it isn't like you have shown yourself to be a reliable source of factual information over the years.

I don't know, what do you think Tom? How many foundations did your foul mouth dirt bag have 4 months in?
