The millinials are such mental midgets. To blame a coach who only recruited our 3 best players in year one, takes over a dumpster fire after losing to Wayne St aka (Georgia Southern). Still has 3/4 of a leftover, so called coaching staff, and is expected to win? Would not blame Mickey for leaving even if he's offered the job with our fan base.

what is ironic is that after almost every game, Mickey Joseph actually wants people to blame him for the teams performance

Lol at "year one." He is a placeholder for the rest of a lost season. He isn't a serious candidate for the job. Nobody is blaming him for this season. It is just laughable that people think he should get the job over proven coaches. Also probably should learn how to spell millennials if you are going to claim to be smarter than them.

Frost had a few players each year who stood above the rest. All it led to was 3-4 wins a year. It's not a good enough reason to keep him around.

Proven coaches like Mike Riley? Your funny. The Jockey only rides the horse!!

Our former coaches include the best OL Coach in the NFL, the former "coach of the year" in Scott Frost and Mike Riley who's coached everyone and everywhere. Who do you suggest we go after now? Nick Saban or Kirby Smart?

Dumb take. MJ is letting Whipple lose games with his QB choice and his game management. I 100% blame Mickey. Hire a real coach and let MJ get back to what he's good at. Recruiting and being a position coach.

I’ll be brave enough to say it. If he beats Iowa he’s my hero and deserves the job.

Thank you for recognizing what Mickey is dealing with and what he is up against

100%

By the OP’s same logic Mickey could have kept Chinander and just said I inherited Chinander and the defensive players from Frost, it’s not my fault they aren’t playing well.

Yeah, you tell ‘em OP!! He’s a nice guy and a Cornhusker! Lifetime contract! He should obviously be without criticism since he inherited this team…….
You have a right to criticize but to blame ? Kinda moronic..

Nobody is blaming Mickey for the roster he took over. We're just saying he hasn't done anything to show he deserves to be the permanent head coach.

Can’t wait for the new coach. At least then the whining will be something different after 8 months of speculating our 9-3 season

He had someone to replace Chins plus Chins was a Frost apologist
He really doesn't have anyone to replace Whipple
Bill Busch didn’t have a long history as a DC, coached safeties at LSU I guess.

Mickey should have stepped in on QB situation in hindsight.

The most damning thing for Mickey is he said in his press conference this week that Chubba was rattled out there last week. So Mickey recognized the problem last week and let it persist for 3 more quarters this week before making a change.

So if you're blaming all the losses on player talent, then how do you explain the Nebraska players sticking it to Minnesota in the first half? Clearly Nebraska was able to play UNTIL the coaches on both sides needed to make adjustments as the game went on. We've been out adjusted by opposing coaching staffs for the last several years and it has continued to this very day.

Absolutely not giving Mickey a 100% pass on this yet I just feel that he doesn't have anything left in his bag of coaches and just doing the best he can with what he has been given
Whipple Absolutely hung his Defense out to dry

Lol, yeah—I’m sure it’s only “millennials” who don’t want to hire Mickey Joseph.

Illinois actually had (and does have talent).
Rubbish. We bring in more talent that Illinois almost every damn year. Every. Damn. Year. I think last year was the only year that we were close in class rankings. Might want to head on over to rivals and look at the last 5 classes, for example. It’s even more depressing being armed with that info. Kinda incredible that we stink so very bad year after year. There is an internal rot that must be exercised.

Bingo. It isn't like he has some great resume before being made interim coach. He bombed at LSU after getting the promotion. All he has shown is he is a good position coach and that isn't enough for Nebraska

Yeah - Mickey was placed in a situation where it was close to impossible to succeed. Ideally, he would have found some magic and the team would be 6-3 or 7-2 now.

This team desperately needs a seasoned head coach - one that will hire the best assistants he can get his hands on (and none of his drinking or golfing buddies).

I think the people that do rankings and their publications are rubbish. Evidently the rankings don’t take intangibles like work ethic, football IQ, film study into account.

The majority of our players lack in these areas and the ‘less talented’ Illinois teams have done pretty well against us the last three years.
