Black Friday looming large for both Iowa and Nebraska

Just my opinion, this game will mean a whole lot more to Iowa win or lose than to NU. Now, I still want us to win the game, just like every other game. But, I don't see NU vs Iowa as a true rivalry game.

Nebraska isn't our rival.

Iowa fans need not bother showing up ... per our resident expert this game is a lock for Nebraska

red rover:

"I'm about 95% positive we will win. The only way they win is if we mentally pull a Northwestern type game. Even though we had some bone headed plays at the end of the second quarter against Purdue you can see a whole different body language of the team. I would be shocked to see us revert back to pre Michigan State."

it will take a miracle for Iowa to win per red rover --- take it to the bank -- or on second thought ignore the bank and make a sig bet

I do. Man, I really do. I've bought in completely on this rivalry. As much as I miss the days of OU, Mizzou, and CU...the Iowa game is starting to be up there for me.

I love how Nebraska has a bye before Iowa. Could be a major factor and I want to see how Nebraska uses that to their advantage.

I consider you guys a rival. I was just commenting on the other guys need to tell us we aren't a rival. People use it as a insult. Like our whole existence is to be Nebraska's rivals.
Come back after we ruin your little perfect season you got going and tell us what you think

Your entire fan base will be in complete meltdown and you would be right there with them - oops sorry you would be right here with us telling us how you consider us rivals but Iowa as whole does not dwell on NU as a rivalry

Lol, looks like you are having the meltdown. Well done. Laughing

I hear ya. The people who won't recognize Iowa as a rival are the same people that day dream about us playing Oklahoma every year again, even though we haven't played them every year in almost 20 years. I love what Nebraska-Iowa is becoming.

This is one of those years that we could look back and say, "that game really elevated the rivalry." I like this new tradition for Iowa. We use to rotate Minnesota and Wisconsin at the end of the year. This is pretty hard to beat though. Black Friday vs a real name brand of a program, hell yes.

Iowa's record versus Nebraska agrees with you.

13-29-3. 1-3 since Nebraska joined the BIG.

I feel like MSU is more of a rivalry.

A couple years ago it was Wisconsin. Lol. Look man, we don't give a shit what you consider it, we are playing for a BIG 10 championship and a spot in the CFP. That is more important than any rivalry. You could be Purdue and we don't care, because being unbeaten is the most important thing.

I meant no insult. If we win, we're 0.500 for the season. I took "Looming Large" in your thread title as in a game of epic proportions and profound consequences. While the consequences may be profound for Iowa, it's just another game to me. Don't get me wrong, I want us to win, but our season is nothing to brag about.

If I consider "outsiders" that post on this board, it seems like it's mostly Iowa people. I think to myself, why do these Iowa people keep posting on here?

As far as Oklahoma, I don't care about them either.

Its big for us, obviously and its big for Nebraska because of the bowl streak.

We failed to make a bowl in 2007...so while it is a streak, it's not like we haven't missed a bowl in awhile.

Oh, I must have heard it in correctly. I thought they said Nebraska was about to do something that hadn't happened since the 50s or 60s. And it wasn't the attendance thing.

Unfortunately, NU has done a lot of things that haven't happened since the 50's or 60's recently.

When you are playing good though, its nice to keep that mojo going from week to week.
I can't deny that either. This will give us our first taste of what Riley and company can cook up after their first bye as coaches. If anything it's one week healthier.

Since Nebraska became a B1G Conference member and began playing Iowa as a conference game we have had the following:

2011 Neb 20 - 7
2012 Neb 13 - 6
2013 Neb 17 - 41
2014 Neb 37 - 34
-----------
87 - 88

Out of 4 meetings since this became a conference game for both 2 games have been decided by 7 pts or less and 2 games have been decided by anywhere from 13 to 21 pts.

Nebraska has averaged 24 pts per game and Iowa has averaged 22 pts per game since the series has become a regular conference game.

This has become a very close series and it could easily be determined by a field goal.

Do you really believe the Huskers can keep it that close?
