It looks pretty wide open.

Northwestern: Still has good talent (especially along the OL and DL), but QB is a question mark and breaking in a new defensive system. See this as a retooling year.

Iowa: They return a lot of good players, but it’s tough to imagine they are better in 21’ unless Petras takes a big jump.

Minnesota: If Morgan returns they can be dangerous. They remind me a lot of Northwestern this year as a prime rebound candidate.

Nebraska: Most talented/veteran roster in the division with a senior QB. Should be much improved from a year ago with as Frost adjusts his offensive scheme.

Wisconsin: Will always have a good defense (Northwestern new DC taught Jim Leonard so they will be running it too). Bringing back same WR/QB combo and lose Fe. Will they improve?

Illinois: Made a great hire getting Bert who dominating this division before. Fully expect them to be much improved.

2AM will be a Junior for your information..

Why wouldn’t Morgan be back at Minnesota? Where would he go?

Also, LOL at your love for Bert. His success was 100% a result of Alvarez. Just like Anderson, Head Coaches are plug and play at Wisconsin.

No it's not. From an administration level, it's the worst conference. The west division isn't relevant.

I believe the West was better than the East head to head this year. OSU is on another level, but after them, there is no difference between the divisions.

I agree with you on the admin stuff. Warren has made the conference a joke the last 6 months or so.

Wisconsin is team to beat in 2021. Don't they play Iowa, Nebraska and Northwestern all at home.

Other than 2015, Iowa hasn't been able to catch Wisconsin or Northwestern of late to make a return to Indianapolis.

Purdue - they can upset Ohio State and pick up some wins under Jeff Brohm, but they are a revolving door for defensive coaches.

Nebraska - this appears the year to make a step forward, but Scott Frost is still working on culture and his roster.

Minnesota and Northwestern have a good RB and some good players returning, but one hasn't played for a Big Title since 1967 and the other went what 1-8 two years ago and 8-1 last year in B1G play?

Illinois could be a spoiler, in year 1 under Bret Bielema.

Alvarez was a great coach, but Bert took that program to unprecedented heights. Bert is an elite level motivator and talent evaluator. When his heads on straight it’s Dabo, Saban, and Bert as the best coaches in America.

most divisions have an elite program in it. The B10 West does not. Wisconsin might be considered the closest but thats only occasional. No ohio state. no alabama. no georgia. no OU. no clemson. Oregon is usually in that class not always. the only divisions without an elite program are the B10 West and one of the ACC divisions. NEB could not have asked for a better place to try to win

You forgot about Iowa though.

If you’re going to put Oregon in that class, Wisconsin is right next to them since Nebraska joined the Big10.

Oregon is #9 with a winning pct record of 93-34 and Wisconsin is # 10 at 95-35..

You ummm, forgot a team that has vastly improved their coaching staff and returns 10 of 11 week 1 starters on offense and 8 of 11 week 1 starters on defense. A team that looked as good as anyone in the west before Diaco blew it up. Just an FYI.

Jeez man... you’ve regressed every year under Brohm. Give it up.

We tried to tell him when Diaco was hired he was going to end up very disappointed...Laughing

Purdue did get screwed in that Gopher game no question about that one..

Brohm inherited a 5-6

would year rebuild. Inherited some talent, added a lot of jucos and grad transfers to help those first two years. Then went young and has been building. Was 2-1 with a close loss to NU last year before having the refs take the minny game away. Then the bs Diaco had going behind the scenes and players opting out due to covid or missing due to covid affected the rest of the year.

This offseason, Purdue finally won't be the youngest team in the big ten, returns 3 honorable mention OLman, two were freshman backups to freshman. Added the DC of the #1 scoring D in the nation. Florida's CB coach. Texas's DL coach who has built multiple good Dlines at multiple places, including Purdue.

Why shouldn't I be optimistic? Purdue finally has the talent and experience to win 6-8 again and continue to build with a coach who has proven he can do so at Purdue. Would love to hear why Purdue is apparently not even in the conversation whereas everyone else in the west is. (Give Purdue the win vs minny the refs took away and Purdue was 3rd in the west last year)

His defenses were better than the year before as Purdue finally has talent coming through and developing. The behind the scenes stuff was brutal. Also the couple 4 star defensive players that ended up going to Missouri because they didn't like Diaco. And the players quit playing for him and was going to leave. Not good.

I give you the Minnesota game but Nebraska handed the game to Purdue 2 years ago..

Now were even..

Didn't Nebraska steal one from Purdue the year before at Purdue? Scored with 50 seconds left brohms first year. Been a while, so don't actually remember the timing for sure. I still think there are going to be some really good Purdue vs Nebraska games as Brohm and Frost finally start to get it turned around. I think both are heading in the right direction.

That is the dumbest shit I have read. He sucked before and after Wisconsin. Look at Crsyt and Anderson both only good at Wisconsin, just like Bert. That slob is as over rated as they come.

7, 6, 4, 2 in that order. You’ve said the same thing every year. Kind of like NU at some point you just gotta stop talking. You’ve regressed every year.

But those are the # of wins, but talk nothing about the team. I understand wins are the bottom line, but that doesn't paint the whole picture. And you know as well as I do, regardless of how talented you are, it's hard to win in the big ten with a team comprised almost completely of underclassmen.

I honestly just forgot about Purdue. Another good team.

It’s this type of thinking that has always given Nebraska fans a bad reputation amongst other fan bases in the conference. Just because there are no “blue blood” type powers other than Nebraska doesn’t mean it is not a good division. The west has always performed well during bowl season, non conference, and against the big ten east with the exception of OSU.

Look at the coaches in the west
Fitz
Brohm
Fleck
Bielema
Ferentz
Chryst
Frost

These are all elite coaches whom most programs would kill for.

Nebraska joined the Big Ten and their fans thought they would walk all over Minnesota, Northwestern, Purdue, and Illinois. It has not happened.

With the exception of Illinois all the schools in the division have consistently fielded credible teams. Now that Bert is in Champagne this becomes a 7 team deep division.

GTFO

Nebraska: Most talented/veteran roster in the division with a senior QB. Should be much improved from a year ago with as Frost adjusts his offensive scheme.
When did Frost say he would adjust his offensive scheme? The only action on his part is firing a special teams analyst and saying Ron Brown is too old to relate to the kids as director of player development. I don't think he is adjusting anything with his scheme. He laments turnovers and penalties will be the focus, at least to Sipple.. likely to be the same offense you all have come to love the past 3 years.

Not sure we are the most talented either.

I think based on the types of players he's bringing in, it's pretty obvious that he's adjusting his scheme. How much remains to be seen.

No douce that is a Ioway narrative that Nebraska fans said that they would walk over the Big10 and win multiple titles..

But yet we’re still waiting for Ioway to win the conference championship out right since 1985..

He told Simple that he is turning over more of the oc duties to the credit union guy. He plans on more hands on in QB coaching. Maybe just talk, but he did say it and you can always put money on what he says.
